Perhaps I’m over sensitive as someone who also has a single L in their name, but a lot of people and major media outlets are misspelling Michele Singer Reiner’s name and it pisses me off.

The older I get, the more my politics mature from childish, naïve beliefs like "the world is complicated and leaders have to make hard decisions" to more serious, adult principles like "hurting people is bad and helping people is good."

The ACA isn't just "health care for people who don't have a conventional employer." It also disallows something that was incredibly common 20 years ago, which I fear is getting lost to generational memory: insurance companies could deny you health care for essentially any previous health problem.
I'm dubious about Amazon's commitment to keeping pre-existing conditions a thing of the past.

The fact is no presenter has ever had to leave the BBC for expressing conservative views, or even explicitly endorsing a right-wing party.

Was never a problem for Jeremy Clarkson. Was never a problem for Andrew Neil. Was never a problem for Alan Sugar
Robin Ince reveals to last night’s audience at a recording of Infinite Monkey Cage that the BBC has forced him to resign over his support of trans people

Requiring temporary visitors to surrender five years of social media to the U.S. sends the message that the American commitment to free speech is pretense. This simply is not the behavior of a country confident in its freedoms.

It's a threat to free speech around the world and must be opposed.
Foreign tourists could be required to disclose 5 years of social media histories under Trump administration plan
The Customs and Border Protection proposal would apply even to countries that don't require visas to enter.

So many creep-ass Twitter accounts post paintings and photos from like, the 50s and 60s, with captions like “bring back cotillions, bring back balls, bring back house parties“

My guy

Those still happen

It’s just that no one‘s fucking inviting you

You ever wonder why that is

The only way this makes sense is when you understand health as a product sold to individuals.

Once you turn health into a product and healthcare into a business, then you can blame individuals for not being able to afford their health(care) rather than look at the environment in which they live.
Roger Marshall: "We want patients to become consumers again. We want patients to see what the actual prices are. We believe that if we would add the price tags to this bill, that it would save the country a trillion dollars a year."

this is me with the current round of white Republican women suddenly discovering misogyny within their party the minute they can't get something they want

naturally I maintain broad-spectrum hate across the whole party but my hate for them is precision-focused, finely honed and cuts like a laser
it's not even the usual "leopards eating faces" thing! it's so much worse!! you were FEEDING the leopards on OTHER people's faces this whole time and now you're shocked they came for yours????? fuck ALLLLLLLLLLLLL the way off

There are far too many people who are all in on Newsom because of his social media presence…which is the work of a Latina woman.
Look, I'm just gonna tell cishet white people right now--Newsom ain't the one. You got Walz and Pritzker out here. You do not need a Bill Clinton clone wearing Mitt Romney's skin.
California Governor Gavin Newsom said on Thursday that the Democratic Party needed to be “more culturally normal” and “less judgmental.”

Exactly. Newsom translated is “we need to treat a lot of you as abnormal and we need you to be a lot less judgmental about it.”
Which is it man because you can’t say ‘be more normal’ back-to-back with ‘be less judgmental’ without a hint of irony because that’s just positioning yourself as cultural authority & then demanding the type of grace that by virtue of your immediately preceding statement you refuse to extend to us
