I am a big fan of "bad movie" shows. MST3K, Flop House, WHM, HDTGM, etc., but a few years ago I thought, "why not do the opposite? do a podcast praising hated, bad, or underappreciated movies." so I did.

the guest *always* likes the movie, and I provide historical context for the negativity. 😉

I didn't really like Kingdom of Heaven (2005) but years ago I heard @crobertcargill.bsky.social (firmly) assert that the director's cut was a considerably better film. So I watched it and guess freaking what.

love Galaxy Quest! did you know that the Tony Shalhoub character is supposed to be stoned throughout the movie? but they cut the scene where he actually smoked weed. so now he's just weird. (where did I read this great info? I totally forget.)
Name a film you would call PERFECT. Any genre. 🎬

then why wasn't it called Cracker Spread
Oscar Mayer Sandwich Spread (circa 1952-circa 2015): a mélange of creamy, spreadable meat, made primarily of bologna, mayo, pickles, onions, peppers and various spices, sold in a tube. "Great on crackers!" per the label.

shoulda taken it to the Philadelphia Zoo. we love Eagles.
New York City police officers rescued a bald eagle in distress during a patrol along the Hudson River. The authorities took the injured bird to a rehabilitation center in New Jersey, which is working to stabilize it to allow for further testing and treatment. nyti.ms/3OQvGtC

RZ's Halloween comes to mind.
fun question: what’s the maddest you’ve ever been leaving a movie theater? not necessarily worst movie you’ve seen, but the one that just pissed you off the most. mine is Batman v Superman

if I wanna see Zach Braff being unfunny I'll watch TV until I see one of his countless commercials.
No calming bedside manner can get around the cold, hard truth: there's no life to be found in #Scrubs Season 10. Sorry, but Zach Braff doesn't have the comedic range for what he's called to do in a sad reboot that's dead on arrival 📺

Oh, man. Tom Noonan died? His performance as Francis Dolarhyde in Manhunter is one of the most terrifying, mesmerizing I've ever seen in a film.

this is not me Pratt-bashing, but Mercy is one of the dullest and stupidest movies I've seen in years. truly inept in many different ways.

Agreed. If a certain AI can help cure cancer, use it. but we don't need generative AI for books and films. humans are already pretty good at creative writing.
It isn't what Jack Shipley is arguing here, but I do make distinctions between generative and non-generative AI if that's considered a grey area.
