There’s a cult of ignorance in the US and always has been.

The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that “my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”

I think it’s great that our media elites have decided that men in their 30s saluting Hitler are just rambunctious kids who got carried away, while 16-year old girls being trafficked and raped by billionaires are “underage women” making informed choices. Definitely reflects well on us as a society.

Trump admin Is attempting to massive cut federal transit funds, seeking to:
1–Eliminate transit account, which funds billions of $ in capital expenses for transit agencies
2–Prevent state DOTs from “flexing” funds for transit

These changes, if they occurred, would be devastating for US transit.
POLITICO Pro: Trump administration proposals seek to eliminate transit funding
DOT recently sent two proposals to the White House budget office seeking to pare back transit money.

Where is @apstylebook.com on this?

I can't believe this hasn't been standardized before.

Because the language we're seeing in the news is reprehensible.
A reminder:
An under-aged girl = a child
Sex with a child = rape
Hiding behind euphemisms and bureaucratic legalese protects our feelings, but clouds the truth.

Weirdly, nobody questions the fact that a president can be convinced within a few minutes, posts his new "policies" across his socials and when confronted, says he has no idea.

THAT is the problem, not the clowns with bad ideas.

I say that once you're elected to the Presidency, you are permanently a ward of the state. Your food and shelter and transportation are comfortable and completely paid for by the public but you basically become a monk with a stipend and zero assets to your name
The president should make 26MM for life.

*But* all their work thereafter is public domain, and they cannot be paid or otherwise compensated for any other act.

You get to be comfortable. But no profiting from the office.

Meaning they know *exactly* what they're doing when they allow Trump and Vought to destroy NIH, and thus destroy most or all US cancer research. /end

Getting new details on this now:

As the arrest unfolded, teachers pleaded with the agents telling them the teacher had a work permit. The agents went into multiple rooms looking for teachers while children were present. One teacher hid with a child in her care while the agents stormed the facility.
Raids inside day cares had been off limits until this year, when, on his first day in office, President Donald Trump removed that protection.

The arrest reportedly took place in front of children.

Centre-left politicians worried about anti-car policies polling badly in the short term need to remember: every measure that pushes people to cycle or use public transport ultimately creates more centre-left voters; every measure that leads to more people driving creates more right-wing voters
There should be a tax on ridiculously bloated road boats registered in urban areas, because (a) they cause obvious problems in such areas (b) they are bad for the environment (c) they are dangerous for children (d) they are awful, and driving them should be expensive and socially stigmatised.
Cars the U.K are up to 55% larger today than they were in the 1970s and there are twice the number of motors on our roads as there were 30 years ago, but anti-Low Traffic Neighbourhood and anti-cycle lane campaigners keep claiming they 'cause congestion'.

Okay.
