I love how when you drop Airpods they have to explode out of the case. They're like a Victorian child who is not allowed his preferred juice. "Did you just fucking DROP me? Am I not your most precious baby?" They immediately become heat seeking missiles but for crevices under your couch.

Sports betting is all over the news lately. Reminds me of the time my administration “negotiated” a $215 million no-bid contract to operate a sports gambling app that generated 1/20 of promised revenues and didn’t work for an entire Super Bowl.

the right wing has been phenomenally successful at taking over the media and the government and even did an okay job at boycotting a beer company but they cannot manifest a box office smash to save their lives
there are no fewer than three sydney sweeney posts on the front page of the Free Press, all of which seem to be defending her complete flop of a movie

Republicans will never abolish the filibuster because the moment they do, the base will demand a vote on a national abortion ban, and they will be forced either to hold the vote and get destroyed in the next election or to duck holding the vote and get destroyed in the next elections.
14?) People in the bad place think this was about preserving the filibuster. IDK. It's hard to see Rs (or Ds) getting rid of the filibuster b/c it gives to much power to individual members. It also changes the incentives for how the R conference works--mods can't blame filib for voting their prefs.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

At this point, any Senate Dem primary challenger who campaigns on a platform of “I won’t piss on your leg and tell you it’s raining” should automatically have a 40% floor to work from
There will be some "Wow you can't make these people happy" sentiment but what's really happening is the Dems are beginning to reap the consequences of not really believing in anything. Choreographed maneuvers, too clever by half talking points. People have just had it

The lesson that Schumer learned from the March debacle:
- do a better job timing the cave to Trump so it happens on Sunday night, not during the day when offices can be lobbied
- do a better job picking senators who are retiring or not up in '26 to vote aye
- make sure you don't have to vote aye

I am very biased, but one catch I haven’t seen on the best of all time lists is Mercury Hayes’s game-winner as time expired for Michigan to beat Virginia 18-17 after trailing 17-0 in Q4.
The gates at the Big House were open b/c everyone thought it was over, and my friend & I walked in to see it.

“Muriel Bowser wouldn’t need bribes to be close to Qatar” is the most Muriel Bowser thing ever to be Muriel Bowsered.
This whole story is very weird. As some Green Teamers have observed to me, Bowser wouldn't need bribes to be close to Qatar: Her pal, Vinoda Basnayake, already lobbies for them a ton. Ex-chief of staff John Falcicchio worked with Qatari investors. What is the quid pro quo here?

This is not specifically knocking CM Henderson but it’s worth noting that the DC Tax Commission met for two years to come up with a variety of proposals that could have funded many programs and then it just…stopped? And no one bothered to do anything about it?
Doing tax policy on an emergency basis is flawed.

So we’re all on the same page: @chenderson.bsky.social and @chmnmendelson.bsky.social are fine with exempting a chunk of buildings from TOPA protections with no hearing or data to support it, but it’s reckless to restore funding to an existing tax credit for working & middle-class families.
