R.I.P. to film/theater legend Tom Noonan! Interviewed him in 2009 for THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL; wish we had more time to talk Michael Mann, Jim Jarmusch, or his directorial debut WHAT HAPPENED WAS... (Memorably, he held back no disdain for Michael Cimino nearly killing him on the HEAVEN'S GATE set.)

Really starting to lose it over how a bunch of dimwit app empowered cretins don’t even know that making a movie can be a once in a lifetime adventure you do with people, actors and crews coming together collectively to make art, and visiting sets is one of the best experiences you could ever have.
Writers if you could drop your novel or short story into an AI and have it make a great and watchable movie out of your story, and you could sell that movie, would you do it? #writers #WritingCommunity

the people who want you to believe that generative AI can paint like Picasso tend to gloss over the fact that Picasso didn’t have hundreds of Picassos to learn from. He had to make something new, which a model trained on old art is definitionally incapable of doing.

Not sure I did Killer of Sheep justice, but I tried. I'm grateful Charles Burnett has been to Seattle a few times, so I've seen him in person, and thanks to @aaronhillis.bsky.social, I've shared a few Zoom calls with him, too--including one where we both got the time wrong! #BlackHistoryMonth

Watching a very low budget film and my first note is "the sound design is incredible" I can't vouch for the rest of it, cause I'm only a few minutes in, and paused, but I needed to say to any filmmakers reading this: if your sound is impeccable, the visuals will get a LOT of leeway.
