Now is the time of Monsters.

Who put all this order here?
Just a reminder that Perez is the kind of person who returned to campus after graduating to sell overpriced dogshit weed to Reed College undergrads in like 2012.

Also if I can't find a spot with no wind, and can't stop bobbing my head and mumbling, I'm not posting a video.

But I'm not in Congress.

Right now, Democrats have the power to defund and abolish ICE. We should do it. This is about right and wrong—and the murder we are seeing on the streets is just plain wrong. Anyone who supports funding DHS and ICE is supporting the murder of Americans. We can stop this.

My cancelable take on Sorcerer Twitter is that there's no such thing as "Vibe Casting." You either know how to write the runes or you don't, just because you enchanted a bookshelf to spit out random snippets of other people's work does NOT mean you're a caster.

My cancelable take on Sorcerer Twitter is that we need to stop calling it "The Art."

Sure, I love poetry, but the TikTok generation doesn't realize just how much of it is chemistry and engineering, to say nothing of contract negotiation.

I would further stipulate that any paid public role is subject to My Mom's Telemarketer "How about I call YOU at home during dinner?" Rules:

If your job involves intruding into someone's home, then sorry, but fair's fair.
One thing I see liberal outlets giving ground on that I feel the need to correct: it’s impossible to “dox” a paid public official
By simply reporting their name, institutional role, and political affiliations

Make them all leave via a single helicopter on the roof of the Whipple Building.
I know we won't get it, but it would be so satisfying to have them all just leave at once in a convoy of shame and misery driving out of the state, as the entire population stands in the snow and waves them goodbye

New at The Watch:

I dug into archival witness accounts of the British siege of Boston prior to the American Revolution.

They are remarkably similar to what we're seeing in Minneapolis.

Two cities under siege
Remarkably similar scenes from Boston and Minneapolis, 260 years apart, show a federal government betraying its founding principles.

The threat of invoking the Insurrection Act is way more powerful than actually doing it, and anyone who thinks doing it is a good idea has a terminal case of Twelve Year Old Brain where the victory is that the Army does what I want I win forever because they’re the tough guys from the Army.
Curious if anyone has a plausible theory of victory for the administration if it were to invoke the Insurrection Act.

How does the administration "win" in such a scenario?

Best I can tell, it is magical thinking by a certain somebody at the White House, but maybe I'm missing something.

The Washington Post published a clear video of federal agents removing Alex Pretti's handgun moments before he was fatally shot. There's nothing in the video to suggest Pretti even reached for his weapon.

Minnesota National Guard members have arrived at a federal building and were directed to distribute donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate to anti-ICE protesters. Guard members were issued reflective vests so they would not be mistaken for federal agents.

I just think the feds categorizing people who return their library books and help their neighbors and pick up trash on talking trails as "terrorists"might not be the winning strategy they think it is.
New: Alex Pretti, the man killed by the Trump-Vance mob of agents was an outdoorsmen, a mountain biker, an ICU nurse who "would go out of his way to help," say Veterans Affairs colleagues.

Cheerful. Funny. Gentle.

And still, per sources, Trump officials are urging staff to call him a "terrorist."

I hope Democratic senators and congressmen understand, out of pure lizard-brain self-interest if moral decency happens to be unavailable, what is at stake for them if they don't handle this the right way. This is a true "If not now, when?" moment.

But at 7pm CST, whoever you are and where ever you are. Go to your street corner. Light a candle. If you are someone who prays, pray.

Let's do a thought experiment called "what would normal police response be if 6 armed, masked, unidentified men who had just beaten and shot someone to death told police to leave the scene."

Don't have to write anything down for this one. Just imagine how many blocks away you'd be able to hear it.
BREAKING: The Tribune confirmed on Instagram that the man shot has died, according to two sources with knowledge of the incident.

ICE attempted to order local police from the scene, but Chief Brian O'Hara refused, sources also told the Tribune. O'Hara instructed his officers to preserve the scene.

At 26th and Nicolett in Minneapolis this morning—

Feds have just shot another person in the streets. Furious community members are gathering. State police and conservation cops here in front of ~50 federal agents.

We can build beautiful things in the darkest times. I’ve seen this all over the world, in Kurdistan and the Darién Gap and in the mountains and deserts of the borderlands. You can do it on your block now, it’s not special or hard, it’s how we are supposed to be and it’s inside all of us.
