The Precursor Age ??? years ago – another paradigm entirely. They cut great flaming gashes into their world, the Precursors. Just keep the gashes away from our cities of silica and cobalt, they assured themselves, and nothing will go wrong. They could not even keep to that, and soon enough there was suffering, then atrocities to sustain the suffering, and finally a great division. The rich stole Birth from their world’s flesh, and fled on irradiated wings, pulling a blanket of death over their realm. A Mist consumed everything, and for some-thousand acts the firmament was naught but pale vapor and the occasional scrap. The Age of Mist Started 2000 years ago – so, so few recall this time, and those who do have warped memories. When the Mist threatened to consume every last thing, a hand reached up through the white to intervene. It took every ounce of her strength, but the giant-girl in red stripes pulled herself onto some discarded pizza advertisement. She then dipped her head back beneath the surface, pressed her lips against the Mist’s twitching godhead, and freed soul and substance alike from its needy surface. The great seas of vapor were instantly rife with matter, with islands and towers and suns and sigil-stones. Oh, and the souls! They screamed in want, an explosion of moans, effervescent forms locked in desire. To war, a free-for-all, each hoping to claim some slice of divinity; A war before weapons, all frotted and rutted in an orgy of seismic motion and cosmic import. It was expected that a four-armed merrymaker would win this libidous war, but she was left with only a paltry lesser domain. Instead, some heavenly judge favored a meek and gentle madame, a scholar who was only present to inscribe the events in memory, and the judge named her God. God, driven to action by the golden Gender given to her as a prize, quickly pried open the legs of reality, tugged on its hair, and split one world into many; She formed The Sefirot, with her domain of Keter at its peak. The Age of Many Heavens Started 500 years ago – those who recall this era have either found perfect satisfaction that has carried them across the centuries, or are white-knuckling to the sweet tit of life. Before Folk and Beast were distinct, when the Sefirot seemed to shape the flow of all knowledge and all commerce, bodies played the game of cultures and conclaves along birthless heavens. The automages huddled in the Golem ship Ezekiel, witches produced the first heretical magics in the snake-tangle of Gevurah, and the worlds turned. Dogs of the pale moon Netzach guarded vibrant Yesod, following the commands of their infested king, the Dog-Lich. The pine-scent council of Chokmah had a miserable idea inspired by this fact, an idea which might expand its influence and slake the bloodthirst of its dusk-sick faeries. They would send their first commander and his Danan un-family. He would colonize Yesod and draw the ire of the dogs, and then he would conquer the vibrant world and its pale moon in one fell swoop. Once the Danan had castles and dams built across Yesod, it was easy to justify unlimited massacre against the dogs – the Dog-Lich, their king, fucked our woman! The dogs are dirty, they’re unwise, they cannot even walk on two legs! First, a few skirmishes, then all-out war on Netzach, and finally a siege on the Lunar Palace which crowned Netzach. It is said that the first commander undid the opposing king with diamond magic, and all that remained of him was cloth and an incessant howling, which the moon still echoes today. God saw this and clapped in her golden, mindless God-stupor. She made a firm division between Folk and Beasts, such that the latter would be mindless and breeding, and the former would feast upon her pearlish, ambrosic Manna. The Age of Kingdoms Started 350 years ago – do not ask someone who recalls this era how old she is, as she will either get pissed or not quite recall her age. So much fell to Yesod. Golem Ezekiel crashed, sloughs of Keter and Gevurah meteored to the dirt, entire attempts at nation-craft rose and fell, people lived and died and got old on the vibrant world. Mercantilism sank its claws into the souls of the Folk, a justification to raze the Flora, the Beasts, the Lands. It was a time of expansion and extraction, of war between squabbling and selfish factions. The wise and kind were made to beg and grovel. This was, for all of its vileness, a time of great religious and magical expansion. The Rime Academy in Frod and the Keterist temples perpetuated reading, writing and curiosity across Yesod, democratizing knowledge and scavenging across the world. Folk learned how to use scraps of old Precursor technology, formed increasingly radical ideological blocs, and founded their own faiths.
