Two soldiers from the Domekan garrison take it upon themselves to harass a local talisman peddler on the streets of Karazad. But more caution is in order- one who walks these haunted streets bare-faced may hold powerful magics of their own…

This is such an outstanding impulse that, imo, identifies a unique material concern of our scene. We tackled this in Monster Care Squad with the Ald-Amura grant; we set $3k aside and dolled out grants of up to $300, low questions asked, to incentivize community engagement Might be worth considering!
🧵 7/8

Profit Sharing pt 2: The other side of our "profit share" model is to give back to the community. We're also still figuring this out as well, but we will be finding ways to provide mutual aid and support to our community. We truly believe in a rising tide.

Okay, so we're working on this with Infinite Citadel - we're doing a couple different things to make sure people get paid.

There is a lot I've been thinking about so, let's start this in a thread!

🧵 1/8
In Tabletop Roleplaying Games the idea of royalties is still relatively new; more of us at the publishing level need to be thinking about ways to undermine the existing paradigm and build to sustain our comrades and collaborators in the long term and give them the fruits of their own labor
My wife had a single line in Kung Fu Panda 17 years ago and still gets checks every few months. Most are way smaller than this, but devs get $0 even though the games we work on will likely be sold for 10+ years soooo yeah.

Royalties are powerful things! A frequent discussion ttRPG writer space is how we could make the jump to full time. More royalty-based models like this would make it way easier!

this year alone we sent out about $50k in royalties for triangle agency work ✌️if your games aren't making money for the people who made then why sell them at all

Genuinely the royalties that I do receive are what help pay my bills, especially when freelance work is slow! It makes a huge difference

You might consider, in ttrpgs we all earn so little that this kind of thing doesn't matter; you sending a friend $19.17 every 6 months isn't much in the grand scheme of things, but the goal is bigger than that, it's about setting standards. You do this, I do this, in 10 years? Everyone does this.
We're always refining, but the SPG Royalty Process shakes out like this; We ask everyone to keep rough track of how many hours they spend on work, and how that time is spent across pieces of work. If someone struggles with this, we ask them to estimate it at the end of the project.
Would love to hear more about it!

We're pretty much settled (barring future changes) on how we did this for How To GM Romance and this is what we came up with.

The breakdown of artists is by shares based on image size/complexity and everyone else is an even split of each category a person contributed to.

I wanna keep doing this.

Since Dinanomodon guoi is only known from a compele cranium, I using Turfanodon jiufengensis (a close-reletive taxon of Dinanomodon) as a reference to reconstruct its postcranial region.

in 2026 instead of lore-diving whatever giant franchise benefits from your engagement try doing it with any writer/director with a substantial body of work but no “fandom”. Marie Ndiaye. Maryse Conde. Samuel Fuller. See where it gets you. If you gotta have a static setting do Mervyn Peake
