You can be mad at the people documenting all you want but that won't change the fact that state and local police departments have played (and will continue to play) an instrumental role in allowing DHS to operate unimpeded. That's kind of just what cops are designed to do.

Fondly remembering the months of weirdness/unhinged comments we got from Pritzker fiends on this app and others for simply (and accurately!) covering state police attacks on protesters outside Broadview. Godspeed to everyone in Minnesota facing the same from the Walz fan club

Which is exactly why they’ve banned it from being taught as history in schools, taken it down from federal websites, tried to make it harder and harder to access on the university level…
People like to act as if the concept of racism and the material consequences of racism are somehow nebulous and opaque but the empirical data has been around for decades.

Even if they wanted to go after a smaller subset of protesters they, one, had no justifiable reasons, and, two, did so with the incompetence that should result in them being criminally charged for essentially assaulting hundreds of people.

As someone who was there it was clear that ICE intended to fire teargas on the labor march, directing shots over the heads of those closest to the building and firing munitions directly at the crowd. They even chose munitions that would have the widest possible effect.
Shameful that the Portland Mayor said that “outside agitators” were responsible for triggering ICE’s assault on thousands of union members last Saturday. Then @pdxoregon50501.bsky.social threw out the ED of @jwjpdx.bsky.social for holding the mayor accountable.

The Mayor’s rhetoric excuses ICE’s atrocity and uses classic red baiting language of “good protestor/bad protester,” which wasn’t even applicable since it was an entirely non-violent march that was teargassed. Organizers of every generation have been called “outside agitators” by the powerful

Reminder of the Mayor Wheeler days and how bad things looked. This missing money stuff happened on his watch and it was turned up by the great new oversight of our current city council.
Another exit interview, still no mention of Adams that I can tell with a keyword search of this partial transcription. Bringing in a toxic person, making wild proposals, starting feuds with the county.

I'll listen to the whole thing later.
If listening to Mayor (for two more days) Ted Wheeler answer my questions for 35 minutes isn't your jam, I transcribed a few standout answers from our conversation. Read (or listen!) here:

"Epstein class" is terrific not simply because several of them are directly tied to Epstein's crimes, but because it strikes at the corruption, immorality and impunity of that entire circle.
Ossoff: We were told that MAGA was for working-class Americans. But this is a government of, by, and for the ultra-rich. It’s the wealthiest Cabinet ever. This is the Epstein class. They are the elites they pretend to hate.

I think unfortunately this point gets lost in many “that’s so offensive!” responses to Trump’s gutter racism. As I stated, James Baldwin and Toni Morrison (which is to say - Black studies) taught us that white racist obsession with (anti)blackness is a reflection of *white* culture—not Black people.

The main point I wanted to get across in this segment is the fact that Trump’s antiblackness has nothing to do with Black people or even the Obamas and everything to do with the depraved and pathetic need that white supremacists (still) have to cleave to a racial identity built on debasing others.

Nixon had to resign for covering up a burglary. The men who killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti will never be brought to justice, and Donald Trump will die in a comfortable bed.
So, a federal agent killed Renee Good. Top Trump Admin officials mobilized to defame Good and lie about the nature of her death. Then, they immediately obstructed the investigation into Good’s killing.

A killing and a coverup. An outrageous injustice.

@councilordanryan.bsky.social is a festering wound on the city of Portland.

A dingleberry on the butt of the city, leftover by that turd, former mayor Fed Wheeler.

Hopefully this scandal is the paper that finally wipes Ryan away so we can actually make progress in PDX.
Portland voters should ALSO be aware that @councilordanryan.bsky.social, @councilorzimmerman.bsky.social, Councilor Steve Novick, and @councilorclark.bsky.social were the 4 city councilors who voted AGAINST the proposed & adopted oversight that (so far) has uncovered $106 Million in unspent funds.
