a couple years later I spit up some blood in the morning before school (probably a slight nosebleed that drained into my sinus overnight) but I was convinced I was dying of tuberculosis because that was the first disaster that hit the Donner Party

not necessarily obsessed but I was definitely one of the kids in the 90s who got freaked the hell out by the PBS Donner Party documentary
Anyway, this makes a great icebreaker question, almost as good (and not quite as controversial) as “what disaster were you obsessed with as a preteen”
