I can't believe how badly the Republicans have fucked up student loan repayment for no other reason other than cruelty. I had my payments down to a decent amount but now by April they skyrocket. We had a deal and they broke it just to be mean. I hate conservatives with all my heart.

Us country folk took a cab in Boston around this time. Driver broke every traffic law he could, swore out the window at other drivers, pedestrians, dogs, cats, birds, etc.
As we were shakily exiting, he turned and said “excuse my profound language.”

Actually, looks like the VJ 40 countdown is early 1985, not 1984. Even more broke: Drove taxi in Boston at night, Harvard classes in the day. (I was on exchange from Columbia to Harvard to save cost-of-living money.) I was about to quit grad school and Georgetown saved me later that year.
Hoping #AT40 is a good year, but the VJ Top 40 year is this week in 1984, when I was in the middle of my first year of grad school - a scary time. Broke, racking up debt at Columbia, work-study job, a course overload to sprint for an MA in a year. (I was dating a lovely girl, so there was that.)
