In the true fashion of my family they have ruled out 80% of what normally causes pancreatitis and they have no idea why this happened to me lol

So good news: blood work, x rays and pancreatitis tests all look good so they couldn’t find anything wrong with him. Bad news: that was about $500+ and we still have a cat that won’t eat. They gave him anti nausea meds and dif foods to try (w/probiotic powder). Crossing my fingers this helps.

-In high school I spent a week at home after the hospital sent me off with a "stomach flu" that turned out to be Pancreatitis.

-Later that year when they removed my gallbladder they found my appendix had also burst.

Hello!

Been a rough week.

Personally, I'm doing MUCH better after my bout of pneumonia and sepsis. Not 100%,but better.

That said, my wife was in the ER this week with pancreatitis. Which sucks. She can hardly eat anything. Hopefully she'll show some improvement soon.

Hi, I'm cough syrup

Had a drug interaction that gave me pancreatitis when I was 6. While in the hospital, had to be taken off medications, then got pneumonia. Do not recommend.

I got pneumonia twice a year as a kid, and almost died a few times. That one was particularly awful.

Hi, I'm acute pancreatitis with hypokalemia, hyperlipidemia so bad there's a visible fat layer on my blood samples (triglycerides at 1997 mg/dL), and an A1C of 11.2.

All of this has been reversed now! Great changes are possible!

One year ago today I was being discharged from hospital minus a gallbladder after a week stay in the maternity wing (?!) with pancreatitis. Great care and did not cost me a single $. #UniversalHealthcare #xp #LoveCanada

the thing that annoyed me about eg pancreatitis risk, risk of gallbladder stones etc - quite a few of the more severe negative outcomes - also occur at similar rates when someone loses a ton of weight via some other intervention? it reminded me a ton of estrogen-causes-breast-cancer - sure with an *

Blogs aren't science (says the gal with a science education blog, lol). As with any medication, there are certainly risks, but the ones I've heard people going on about either aren't substantiated by the research, are very low incidence (like the pancreatitis risk), or are part of the expected--

About last night…A spot of joy.
I’m holding onto that feeling as I sit in a waiting room for an injection in my newly diagnosed frozen shoulder while my freshly diagnosed pancreatitis fights for attention. It’s all good bc I woke up this morning. Hope everyone is finding joy today. 💙 #sunsets #RVA

My grandfather self medicated his anxiety with alcohol until he was 90 something and got pancreatitis. He had cut back a lot by then, and was able to stop totally at that point, but I think part of why we don’t drink as much is because of therapy and better meds.

His prognosis is likely not very long, but his qol continues to be high, especially now that his mothers deny him nothing*: he feeds at night, he goes on supervised walks in the building hallway, he got a new cat tree to enjoy.
*Except his beloved chikin, bc allergy/fatty food bc recent pancreatitis
