My good friend has given so much of themselves to communities in WA State and made our world better.
Now their world is kind of falling apart and it’s time to give back.
If you want to know more about this fundraiser or ChrisTiana’s situation please let me know.

we need to accept that while handwashing is good, it's not the main preventative measure for airborne illnesses.
Unsurprisingly to anyone living an airborne-aware lifestyle, the risk of influenza from surfaces is negligible and “hypothetical.”

Like most viruses that infect through the airways.

Risk of getting flu by touching contaminated items likely low
Live virus was rarely transmitted to fingertips from the fomites.

Cannot be said loudly or often enough: the bill House Rs are considering passing tomorrow would rip health insurance and food assistance from millions, leaving the poorest households worse off - to partially pay for tax cuts that most help the richest - while increasing the deficit by trillions.

Every Democrat who said the Republicans had a point about trans women in sports, or contributed to the bathroom panic, owns a piece of this abomination.
The House Republican reconciliation bill will now ban both surgeries and HRT prescription under Medicaid for all Americans.

Earlier, I posted that it wouldn’t affect HRT. This is incorrect.

I was mistaken, because the bill refers to medications for trans people… as “procedures.”

Everyone 6 months and older is eligible to get a flu vaccine.

It makes no sense to restrict Covid vaccines to only people who have specific medical conditions.

The FDA is basing its decisions on politics, not science.

If ur not masking rn during an ongoing pandemic you believe this eugenic ideology btw, whether you want to admit it or not. If ur not masking you’re ok with infecting and killing/disabling those around u by spewing Covid all over, so mask tf up and don’t talk abt eugenics if ur contributing to it
The RFK Jr. version of health, where health creates health and healthy people don't get sick and the thing that keeps you healthy is /living the right way/ is very seductive to a lot of people. It also places the burden of illness back on the ill, which decreases the value of human life.

Opinion | Wearing masks in public should be illegal. Unless you are wearing that mask to conceal your identity while you carry out a kidnapping.

So, you might be wondering: does it matter if Covid shots are recommended? Yes, yes it does.

1. Insurance won't cover them if they're not recommended. That's a HUGE challenge for a lot of people.

2. If more people skip the shots, manufacturers will make fewer doses, making them harder to find.

Just a friendly reminder that our current Covid vaccines do not meaningfully prevent infection or transmission of Covid. Misleading the public about this fact led to massive distrust about vaccines and record vaccine hesitancy. It's SO crucial to make ppl aware of this fact to fight vax hesitancy

Hello Seattle, and especially if you live off the 8, ride it or want to ride it for any reason, please take 2 minutes to sign this NEW action letter. Been turnover at city & county councils so we want to make sure to keep this top of mind and a priority for action.

There's a model for what the 8 bus line can be, and it's the G Line on Madison. With actual, dedicated bus lanes, more coaches, and elevated platform stops, the 8 could be the equivalent of a light rail line. Instead, it's a cluster f**k.
There are more people waiting for the bus than cars in this picture and it will take 5 minutes for the bus 500 feet behind me to reach the bus stop.

Based on very well-sourced traffic projections, demand for sitting outside and painting on the street with chalk is expected to increase by 900% by 2030, therefore we really need to start expanding pedestrian streets downtown as soon as possible to reduce street congestion.
We're going to need a bigger street plaza.

My personal "5 years since the start of Covid" moment is remembering that in 2020, the US discovered it had allowed almost all its mask and PPE manufacturing to transfer to China for cost savings.

In 2025, PPE is still almost all made offshore, and we just encouraged China to end shipments to us.

I really really want to stress that novovax is the covid vaccine preferred by a lot of people in the disability advocacy space. Disability advocates have pushed hard to maintain access for this vaccine that's not as well known as Moderna or Pfizer, but is better tolerated by a lot of people
This isn't a new product. It's an updated vaccine to account for new strains and viral evolution. Are they going to do this for all COVID and influenza vaccines yearly? Because that effectively shuts them down. There isn't enough time between identification of strains included & release of vaccine.

The only way ear masks pass a fit test for me is when I use mask tape. I always tape the inside to my face bc otherwise they simply do not seal!!
A study of masks and respirators confirms, yet again, that earloop KN95/KF94 masks perform similarly to surgical masks. Earloop masks should not be recommended as a substitute for proper headstrap N95 respirators—except for the rare wearer who passes a fit test in them.
Measuring the fitted filtration efficiency of cloth masks, medical masks and respirators
