can you imagine being so optimistic after the First World War to be all "the war to end all wars! the great war! phewph. glad that's behind us."

Always a good idea to turn off auto-play videos; choose what you see and what you don't.
if you do not want to watch the video, go to settings > content and media and uncheck the "autoplay videos and gifs" box right now

I wonder if people are really ready to live life without vaccines?

Small coffins, small graves…

The need to have more children to take into account the death and disability rate…

What a terrible and sad step backwards…

Which obviously was never a thing, but also what the actual fuck. Andy is basically saying he wants more pedestrians to die in intersections as long as a driver doesn’t have to feel delayed
January 5, 2026 at 11:32 PM
you're doing the lord's work, @terriclarke.bsky.social

not surprising to anyone, Andy didn't know anything about municipal politics and has no capacity for self-reflection.
No one should have to listen to this, so I’m reading the transcript. Right after introductions one of the hosts makes a note of stating “gee Andy all your staff really like you, and they all say you’re a really great guy”. Doesn’t seem odd or forced at all. Okay.
I didn’t know this Podcast existed until now, out of the blue, Spotify sent me this notification. Should be rich but I don’t know if I can listen to him talk that long, how about you Halisky?

In 2026 there will be more mass media articles and commentators ridiculing people taking precautions to avoid SARS-CoV-2 infection while simultaneously hundreds of pieces of research will be published further demonstrating the long-term harms of infection.

Ignore the ridicule.

What little constraint there was for the US post-WWII came from their rival superpower, not international law. It's gone, so what's actually left to challenge them other than other geopolitical entities? Imagine WMDs passing the sniff test with a global superpower warning them to stay out.

For all that the media has spent years freaking out about what social media does to our brains, I don’t understand why there appears to be little effort to grapple with the fact that these chatbots are, for some not insignificant portion of the population, literally psychosis machines

All of those people who claimed to be desperately worried about mental health at the start of the pandemic seem to no longer care about mental health.

It was obvious at that time that they did not care, and frankly, they never will.

That little dip in deaths by suicide was in 2020.

anyway, no one saves themselves by refusing to condemn illegal military aggression. playing nice doesn't result in preferential treatment.

IMHO people haven't got their heads around this fast enough. The United States is an enemy.
nobody can depend on the US for shit, and everybody's got to get their head around that real fast.
Every reputable expert I know considers mRNA vaccine technology to be one of the most revolutionary advances in medicine in our lifetimes. Its inventors won the Nobel Prize in 2023. Shutting it down now is pointless self-harm to humanity.

There are many, many people still viewing world events like today's through an ideological prism, as if the Trump regime has coherent or principled worldviews.

The sane among us realize Trump could just as easily "capture" the Canadian Prime Minister next month, on a whim.

Palestine is a test. Venezuela is a test. And everytime the world says nothing or does nothing it's permission to take similar actions again anywhere else.
January 3, 2026 at 4:31 PM
anyway, I'll be pleasantly surprised if Canada has any European allies because historically the interest in the border was mostly about resource extraction.
A few 19th-century cartoons about US-Canada border issues, presented for no particular reason 🙄

For over 200 yrs there's been talk of annexation or "liberation," while many Indigenous Nations recognize that the imposed colonial borders never made much sense anyhow 🧵

I thought this was going to all transpire in Trump's first term, but then the pandemic happened, which both disrupted the plan & created the conditions for an eventual second term. They're not wasting any time in these extra 4 years.

Trump's regime has murdered people in the water. He has seized ships on the high seas. He has invaded a country and kidnapped their leader.
All bets are off with the United States.
Canada needs to build alliances with Europe and to be ready on the home front.
