we are living thorough 10 years of moral collapse. it’s happening everywhere but is concentrated in the US. we have given up on even trying to argue that there must be more to life, both individually and collectively, than bare materialism and power. we must rededicate ourselves to meaningful life.

I dream I have a presentation to make to get into a PhD program in physics. (This is hilarious considering how severe my innumeracy)

I know I look ill prepared to the evaluators & I tell them it is more far important to me that my points are as comprehensive as possible rather than polished.

This is a way to help some folks who need access to free support & by donation consultations, therapy (for those in NY) and workshops-

And get access to some writing and conversation in exchange

These subscriptions allow me to offer services on a pay-whatever-you-can-or-not basis
Here are some affordable subscriptions I offer - again, the very small income from these helps me offer more pro bono and by donation support to folks in hardship

I really don't feel like looking back over 2025 at all.

I hung in there.

I kept trying to get tools I see as essential (community building, discernment, emotional, intuitional skills)
into hands to negotiate the converging crises we are negotiating.

That's all I've got for a year in review.

The Trump administration is putting extreme restrictions to Head Start programs, including preventing the use of words like “woman,” “disability,” and “race” when applying for grants.

We're taking President Trump to court to protect this critical program.

a theme running through Kathryn Joyce’s THE CHILD CATCHERS is that the evangelical frenzy for intercountry #adoption was at least partly rooted in the belief that material aid aimed at family preservation was inferior, because it was their children’s souls that needed rescuing.
Here’s an idea. How about Christian’s go home and stop trying to convert people in countries they don’t belong in. That will stop the ‘slaughtering’ immediately.

Few things as frustrating as the constant gaslighting from a country that tells everyone to devalue us, romantically, emotionally, socially, certainly sexually, while also denying that that's what it's doing.

You map people

New Mexico isn’t red.
Everything changed with the 2010 election. In a historic realignment, the GOP won a majority of governorships and state legislative chambers.

Now, Republican-dominated states are pushing out young professionals and casting college graduates as the enemy.

The Red State Brain Drain Isn’t Coming. It’s Happening Right Now.
As conservative states wage total culture war, college-educated workers—physicians, teachers, professors, and more—are packing their bags.

Every loser misfit in America, rich or poor, wants to live in the Matrix where everything is fake and perfect. They can't comprehend why you, a normal person, don't also share this desire.
The comments on this are all about how sweet it is and I feel insane. Using AI to make fake memories of your grandma with dementia and telling her they happened and then filming her reaction

Every damn day. It’s exhausting.
NYT provides no evidence here, probably because the claim is flatly untrue. See eg recent Pew data, or many posts on the subject from @gelliottmorris.com this year

Absolutely this.
I’m a trained social worker. I worked with cases of CSA and other horrifying traumas. I didn’t learn til 6 months before I burnt out how dangerous and cumulative vicarious and secondary trauma are.

You don’t want this in your head and you don’t want it to live in your body. It doesn’t leave.
And as several folks are saying in the comments: curiosity about the Epstein files is understandable, but just for yourself personally, think carefully about what you want in your head forever.

It will come to you later in upsetting ways that you may not expect.

I've been thinking about this a lot too.

Fat people are often also excluded from immigrating to countries with universal healthcare.
Internationally- universal healthcare almost always closes immigration for elderly, chronically ill and disabled folks.

This is something I think about a lot.

Me too!!!

If my trans kid moved to a country with less oppressive laws then my disabled kid and disabled wife couldn’t follow. There’s no real answer … other than to fight here and try to win.

Peace on earth has got to be so much easier for all life on earth than the efforts to apply such cruelty and to survive it.

I’m trying to imagine a life where self-reflexion & compassion are an undesirable option instead of the only life ring to cling onto in terrible turbulent seas.

Its very hard to do.

Its interesting to me that the anti-woke experience self-reflection and compassion as “too much work” and a call to labor instead a call to self-awareness.

If we disengage, we excuse our choices.
Moral, ethical actors aren't the source of the judgement felt, feeling is internal, created within us. Mocking the messenger originates within us too. Our habits are reinforced by a multi-billion dollar effort, yet we choose not to see those actors.
