Short 🧵 in praise of true creativity
Cronenberg deleted a dream sequence from A History of Violence because it was too similar to his other work. That's an artist making a choice to not repeat himself, to subvert the expected. AI wouldn't do that. AI would do the thing Cronenberg had done before because it was most probable.

“Collective trauma and ignorance is being weaponized against the masses to contain them in a cycle of repeated Covid infections. Additionally, years of social programming and consumerism have corrupted people's mind to value conformity over safety, the economy over community.”

My mom told her physical therapist she wears a mask because her husband and daughter are immunocompromised. The PT said she is too but isn't worried bc she knows if she dies she is going to heaven. Then her co-worker yelled, “Shut up Debbie you wear a seatbelt and take blood pressure meds” 👀

I’m pretty sure the people who went along with hiding Covid data, ignoring 1000s of deaths a week, refusing all precautionary measures and engaging in some fun recreational eugenics are more culty than those who read the science and thought “hmm, getting that sounds bad”

My ADHD really hates Xmas shopping, consumes my mind for weeks! Figuring out right gift for 11 people, constantly 2nd guessing. Do they have it? Right size? What colour? Can I exchange? Buy later, nothing left & I have to scramble. Buy earlier, ruminate for weeks. I already have to exchange a gift 😭

It would really suck to be 1 of the 4,200 who land in the hospital with Covid

Or 1 of the 725 who will die of Covid this week

Or 1 of the 23,000 who will develop Long Covid serious enough to limit daily life for months, years or maybe for life

Or you could N95 mask & not deal with any of that! 😷
Infections in Canada this week are expected to result in 4,200 hospitalizations, 725 deaths (people who die at least 1 year earlier than they would without COVID) and 23,000 new long COVID cases serious enough to limit daily life activities.

A sweaty Japanese man boards a flight from Tokyo to LAX. He finds his seat, stows his carry-on and reaches for a tissue in his jacket pocket to quietly sneeze into. A woman in the seat behind him says, “God bless you!” Another instinctively checks the seal of her N95 and whispers, “God help us all.”
By now
you have probably seen reports
about how H3N2 Flu
is spreading dangerously
in Japan,
but before you tell yourself
that you need not worry
as you are not in Japan,
remember:
you may not be there
but that doesn’t mean
that this virus
won’t find its way here.
