OSCAR ISAAC, on whether he'd return to "Star Wars":

".. Yeah. I mean, I’d be open to it, although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney. But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great."

Breaking: competition predicated on measuring physical advantages… comes out against physical advantages*??

*advantages may or may not exist. terms and conditions apply.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is moving towards a complete ban on transgender women in female events following a review of the evidence on the long-term physical advantages of being born male.

If a "strong economy" can coincide with—or indeed create—record homelessness and insecurity, then maybe it's time for a change in terminology.

How does your pathetic "plan" keep me alive through 2026? How does it pay the premium increase I face? How fucking dare you come on here with this bullshit.
1. We need to fight hard for a good ACA extension early in December and hold Republicans fiercely accountable if they betray everyone.

ASKING OUR REPRESENTATIVES TO ACTUALLY REPRESENT US IS NOT FIGHTING IT’S JUST ASKING YOU TO DO THE FUCKING JOB WE PAY YOU FOR
But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.

Your colleagues promised us — promised activists, promised social media influencers, promised organizations — that they were actually going to fight for the ACA, that it was non-negotiable.

You lied to us. You betrayed us. And this is your plan? I know you're not this stupid Sheldon.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

The full clip may be even worse. He explains that it “didn’t work” bc Trump took advantage of it to do a bunch of unlawful things. This is the same elite cowardice that has gotten us exactly nowhere. “Gosh, Trump is breaking the law and hurting people. Guess we’d better cave.”

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Hearing from more people after this went out.

"We're all pissed. This was a lot of unnecessary stress on people and their families for nothing. And if I win the lottery tonight I absolutely will spend millions to hire people to follow these 8 Dems around for a year and make their lives miserable."
I heard from a bunch of federal employees last night and this morning. They aren't happy.

"I would rather be an actual pawn. At least pawn sacrifices are calculated and achieve something. All this for a fucking meaningless vote."

Also in case its not being mentioned in your feed, there is still a remaining vote for this and Somehow they didn't anticipate the outrage, so there's apparently some hesitation now.

If those were your senators, call them and don't stop. I will also be calling even though they arent mine
Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.

No matter how they voted last night, every one of them has a say in maintaining Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin as their caucus leaders. Every one of them is accountable here.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

not to be a dick because there’s a little truth to this, but also: all politics is about people’s well being. sometimes it’s just more visible or visceral or people who register as more important. a true rejection of politics that impacts people’s well-being is a rejection of politics altogether
hot take: the actual problem the Dems are having is that they're NOT playing politics with peoples' well-being and actually want things like "people get to go home to their families for Thanksgiving"
