What drives me absolutely insane about this debate is how claims like “there has been a generational stagnation of purchasing power” have taken on the tenor of religious faith among progressives, and seemingly cannot be disproven with any evidence, no matter how overwhelming. It simply isn’t true!

Musk does not get 1/1000th of the grief he should over this absurd claim about 20 million dead people getting Social Security. Social Security is run far better than Tesla and provides a way more valuable service.
Imagine shareholders willing to give a trillion dollars to a guy who says there are 20 million dead people getting Social Security, but is too incompetent to find any of them.
With Tesla stock at a price-to-earnings ratio of almost 300 it doesn't look like anyone is buying what Elon Musk is selling, other than Tesla shareholders finance.yahoo.com/quote/TSLA/

DHS confirmed it has stopped automatically storing officials' text messages.

Instead, officials are supposed to take a screenshot, send that to their work email, download it onto their work computer and run a text-recognition program on it. Every time.

I subscribed to Wired for the first time this year because they were one of the few outlets covering DOGE honestly.

We're running out of uncompromised outlets. A liberal billionaire who wants to make an impact could start a great publication by hiring all the great reporters fired this year.
Jake Lahut, a Wired reporter who from the Nancy Mace airport story last week, was among those fired.

During the incident, CN's HR chief asked staff not to congregate outside his office. Lahut asked "what's your definition of congregating?" and was let go later on Wednesday.

Is it surprising? He wrote The Road Ahead, purporting to provide a map of the future of computing, in 1995 and failed to foresee the explosion of the Web, which had already begun by the publication date. And THAT was his area of expert knowledge, unlike climate!
Bill Gates's climate memo showed a stunning lack of political vision.

The climate fight was always going to require technologies AND markets AND a social movement to make inconvenient demands upon the powerful.

What did he think he was signing up for?
