Breaking: competition predicated on measuring physical advantages… comes out against physical advantages*??

*advantages may or may not exist. terms and conditions apply.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is moving towards a complete ban on transgender women in female events following a review of the evidence on the long-term physical advantages of being born male.

thank you, laura. perfect answer, no notes.
At her presser today, I asked Laura Harvey for her thoughts on the discourse about trans athletes and the #NWSL, and the divisive rhetoric targeting some players for their appearance. Here is her answer (with transcript of her remarks in alt text):

time to translate vizhub so that none of the @americansocceranalysis.com olds can understand my code
Do you teach #rstats? Do your students complain about how lame and old-fashioned dplyr is? Don't worry: I have the solution for you: github.com/hadley/genzp....

genzplyr is dplyr, but bussin fr fr no cap.
GitHub - hadley/genzplyr: dplyr but make it bussin fr fr no cap

One of the first things I learned at Syracuse was how badly Black members of the community had been fucked over in the past. So happy to see the city elect its first Black mayor in a landslide (76% as of last tally).
My city, Syracuse, NY, which was a major hub of the Abolitionist movement, has a 25% Black population, and has the highest concentration of poverty among Black people in America, appears to have elected its first-ever Black mayor.

WOW. 81% of women 18-29 voted for Mamdani, 80% for Sherril, and 78% for Spanberger.

Gen Z women aren't playing around.

The “comptroller race” is what happens when you and your sibling fight for player 1 on the Wii
"Comptroller" and "gubernatorial" don't sound like real words.

I'm pretty sure Sarah Gorden is the only person so far to use the word "transphobia"
I’ve also been stuck on the fact that Sarah Gorden apologized for another player’s comments, and is the only one to do so — despite it not being her fault in the slightest. I still hope we see public support of her from the league itself, as she is also targeted.
