Many years ago I was hanging around outside the White House, press badged, and a Swedish tour group asked why there were construction panels on the front lawn. I said they put up screens because Bill Clinton likes to trampoline nude from the waist down so, if that turns up in a biography, it was me.

I am a hypermasculine and extremely powerful alpha male. As such my greatest fears are seed oils, rainbows, people who don't look like me being on TV, and preventative medicine. I cannot explain any of these fears and consider that to be your fault.

is it only asylum seekers our Labour Prime Minister would object to living next to or would the sentiment apply to black and brown people in general? if merely the former, would he like to explain how he knows people he sees, say, in the street, actually are asylum seekers and not citizens?

Finally worked out how to connect my record player to my surround sound system. So far tonight I’ve listened to the new album from @pile.bsky.social, then Grace by Jeff Buckley and now the self-titled album by Michael Kiwanuka. I’m gonna be insufferable now I’ve got it sorted!

The fact that the thing we're calling artificial intelligence *can't do math* and yet we're jamming it into programs that successfully *have done math* for decades, then warning people against using the AI to do math, seems like an excellent summary of where we are.
Good thing no one uses Microsoft Excel for anything related to legal, regulatory or compliance business functions

Every year Icelandic tax records are open for a few days. And all the media outlets dig into them and write multiple stories about how much money some people made and how much they paid in taxes. We even have a special newspaper called The Salary Paper that only comes out once a year.

I am surrounded by people who are outsourcing their own thinking to ChatGPT and they are quickly and obviously becoming dependent on it for even the most banal tasks. Once again, the "figuring it out" is the important part. Yes, you can use a crane to lift weights but you will not get stronger
