This was always the play McConnell wanted.

Stack the courts.

That's why he blocked the Garland nomination in 2016, and rushed the Coney-Barrett nomination in 2020.

He wanted a christo-fascist court in place to rubber stamp whatever his oligarch friends wanted.
Yes, the Supreme Court has failed to protect us from Trump. But it’s worse than that: The Supreme Court is imposing its own fascism. It invented presidential immunity. It has gutted the Voting Rights Act, passed by a bipartisan Congress. It’s as bad as Trump, and moving in the same direction.

Actually, the Supreme Court Has a Plan

We are seeing an intentional effort from justices to rebalance the separation of powers in the federal government.

🦠What happens when you say you will only protect babies of infected moms, but you are bad at detecting infected moms❓

🚫You miss a lot of babies who needed protection.

This is exactly why in 1991 we went from only vaccinating babies of Hepatitis B positive moms to vaccinating all babies.

NBC NEWS: Jack Smith’s final report “said that Trump ‘inspired his supporters to commit acts of physical violence’ by spreading ‘demonstrably and, in many cases, obviously false’ claims about the 2020 election.”

100%

Between the actual party/candidate asks, and the scam PAC asks run by consultants to pad their pockets, I get upwards of 10 asks a day.

Every day. And that only counts my phone. Not email.

All the while, we have Democrats voting to confirm unqualified morons.

Completely unacceptable.
the democrats have done more donation soliciting based on the admin going after mark kelly than they have done actual messaging, and that kind of gives the jig up about the party's priorities. they have the high ground and a winning message and all they can think about is squeezing donors for bucks

Every last word of this.

Its never been about purity, its been about courage.

And when Democrats deflect to "purity" they're showing they have no courage...or any compass.

No, Progressives Don’t Want “Purity.” They Just Want Some Courage.
When left-leaning Democrats complain about corporate influence, it’s not a “purity test.” It’s a demand for a better politics.

I think everyone can stop debating if the U.S. government is controlled by fascists.

It was apparent a while ago, but there’s should be no doubt now.

All of this...

It was the Neville Chamberlain Dept. of Justice.
The pipe bomb suspect getting arrested by this dumbshit iteration of the FBI after 5 years just proves even more that the people in power over the last few years cared so little about getting to the bottom of the attempted coup of January 6th and just wanted to move on and hope things worked out.

Tom Cotton is an opportunist with no moral compass.

He sees this as a "stand by your man" moment. He doesn't want to get primaried.

He's got a 6th generation farmer running against him for what he's NOT done to support Arkansas' farming families.

Last thing he needs is to piss off MAGA Arkansans.
Cotton actually chuckled when asked to describe the footage he had just seen of the second strike that killed the survivors of the first strike.

“I saw two survivors trying to flip a boat ― loaded with drugs, bound for the United States ― back over, so they could stay in the fight."

I don't love the way this is framed, but agree with the overall point.

The US Justice system is an unequal system. If you lack resources, you are more likely to have a harsher sentence.

A transparent process for clemency would help legitimize the pardon, and keep it from being bought and sold.
A lot of people do not want to hear that there is an intense pro-police and pro-prison turn among the left. E.g. the drive to limit the pardon power, which is the only way some people get any relief from excessive sentencing on the state and federal level.

What Trump gets right and wrong about pardons
Pardons aren’t about helping political allies – they’re about bringing a measure of justice to an unjust system.

@democrats.senate.gov make it make sense!

Why would any Dem support this clown?

Why is any Dem supporting any judicial appointee this corrupt administration puts forward?

Did we learn nothing from the fun times with Judge Canon down in Florida?
11 Senate Democrats just voted to advance the nomination of a Federal Society judge who used to defend banks and payday lenders:

Durbin
Gallego
Hassan
Hirono
Kaine
Kelly
King
Klobuchar
Reed
Rosen

If anything wages haven't kept pace with inflation.

Huh... Isn't that interesting?

Also, most of the folks they're arresting don't have no criminal record at all.

Also, staying in the US past your VISA is a civil offense, not a criminal one...no matter what Cosplay Kristi says.

They demonstrated pretty conclusively that they understand how to cover pardons as if they are huge scandals when they ran multiple days of banner headlines and scolding op-eds and follow ups when Biden pardoned Hunter exactly one year ago.

They just choose not to for trump because they like him
It’s wild how the press is ok with the president abusing the pardon power. That used to be one of the most scrutinized things about a presidency.

Bernie, AOC and Elizabeth Warren have been saying this for 10 years.

But Schumer, Pelosi and now Jeffries have been playing to the imaginary middle.
If Democrats want to regain working people, they must disavow Big Money.

They must hammer economic populism — and have a laser focus on the cost of living crisis in America.

There’s no way the party can speak for or represent the working class in America if it's beholden to corporate interests.

Of all the fake unnecessary wars we've either started or instigated in my 53 years, this one will be the dumbest. Its also the one that likely ends the Age of American dominance in international affairs.

Congress should express their disapproval immediately, but they're lapdogs not watchdogs.
The president is about to start a war for no real reason. All of the things he has blamed on the country he’s targeting — fentanyl distribution, “emptying the asylums” and sending patients to the U.S., alignment with Tren de Aragua— are provably, obviously false.

Lots of people are going to die.
