Hi I'm Trish and I thought I'd better post so I look somewhat like a human. I didn't say much on the bird site as most of what I wanted to say was said more effectively and succinctly by people way cooler or fiercer than me. So I shared their stuff, mainly, and probably will do so again here (1/6)

However big an organisation you run?

This is a battle you fight or fascism you enable.
When an organisation gets those letters claiming that Transphobia “is the law of the land” you can just reply with the polite version of this meme:

Every trans person who is on a knife edge. On one side is employment for another day. On the other is whether a random transphobe posts "Ick, gross, trans person" with your picture and employer name, and it goes viral. You will get fired, from pretty much any company, if that happens to you.
When writing this piece, I kept thinking back to this Instagram post I saw from a trans woman the other day. This is what I'm talking about. Watch this:

If your choice is between an existential risk to your organisation, vs being a fascist collaborator, and you make the difficult choice to be a collaborator...

...then you are still a collaborator.
Like, I'm sorry the fascists are giving you difficult choices. But that's what fascists fucking do. The only legit answer is "fuck you make me". The only answer that shows you have actual fucking principles not preferences is "fuck you make me". And that sucks. But here we are.

Sorry, what now? Personally I tend to think this government suggesting scrapping the right to appeal is potentially an even bigger issue with Lammy's reported proposals than the idiotic idea of getting rid of juries. This would be dangerous territory. #r4today

Thousands of people raise legitimate concerns of lack of impartiality/anti-trans bias, nothing taken seriously. A single biased, bigoted individual with money and influence says the BBC isn't right-wing and bigoted enough, the BBC gets grilled by MPs.

Joke country.

People fleeing climate change are as legitimate refugees as those fleeing war & persecution.

The rich countries are mostly responsible for climate change, so we have a responsibility to take climate refugees.

Their homes will never to be safe to return to.

Just thinking of this in light of today's disgusting announcements from Labour, which come days after saying that they're going to abandon a bunch of climate change initiatives because they're too hard.
Borders are tightening because states are preparing for the inevitable upsurge in climate refugees since we've collectively decided that we're going to make large swathes of the world uninhabitable over the next few decades.
This btw should be illustrative as to what typically happens to queer people seeking asylum. They just happen to be Nigerian so white queers have never heard of what happens to them--accused of lying about being gay, being deported, etc.

Epstein emails;

- Trump knew Epstein was a nonce & failed to report it

- Trump was alone with an underage girl for hours

- Instead of denying it, the Whitehouse is saying the emails were "cherry-picked" - ie. they are *true*

- Trump has lied about all this for months

- So where is the media..?

by the by I've said before and I'll say again - I don't agree with the "we need them kids off them screens" values of the boomers. screens are great for a plethora of reasons.

But if you do want kids off screens and making friends offline then you need to address the reasons they've 'retreated'.
ps. it is arguable that Brianna would not likely have turned to social media for friendships and transitional support had those things been readily available in her local area.

@charlotte2153.bsky.social you want kids like Brianna off her phone? then give them a better alternative.

So the Telegraph’s “BBC bias dossier” - supposedly written by ex-BBC adviser Michael Prescott - is being used to claim there’s a rogue LGBT+ unit “censoring” gender-critical voices inside the BBC.

Let’s look at what’s actually in it. Spoiler: it’s nothing but recycled transphobic talking points!

🧵
For reference - Here’s the Telegraph article with the Prescott memo complaining about the BBC published in FULL.

Obviously, it’s an archived link which circumvents their paywall - as there’s no way I’m gonna give that transphobic rag any clicks or coin! 😣

Yep, THIS!

Transphobia overwhelmingly comes from mainstream media. Restricting phone use will have no effect at all on the transphobia coming from the BBC, Guardian, Mail, Murdoch Times, Telegraph, Express, New Statesman, Spectator, GB News, etc.
Locking phones up in school - the time when children are already LEAST likely to be on them - will do NOTHING to stop bullying, poor mental health, isolation, or radicalisation!

It will also have ZERO impact on the rabid transphobia that’s perpetuated through the mainstream media & politics! 😖
