Just another neurodivergent techie. Expect to see me talk about computer networks, feminism, human rights, and autism--and how they are connected. Delcared un-American by the US government.

a few months ago I said "having generative AI handle absolutely anything with regards to healthcare is a nightmare and should be banned" and a bunch of people made fun of me and called me stupid. anyways,

I am glad I learned how I travel best. I ended up being delayed due to a broken plane which meant I arrived a day later than I expected. On longer trips I schedule a low key day for day after arrival with nothing I will miss not doing. I usually use it to explore. #ActuallyAutistic

Also, queer representation is down right now, in a culture that’s increasingly hostile to us. So we need more stories beyond the pattern of “assimilated queer couple, likely where one dies”. We deserve a wider range of queer lives on screen.

Maybe Zohran Mamdani should have come out for ending the shutdown so Democratic Senators could have opposed it.

As many of you know, a handful of Dem Sens have voted on a CR that keeps the government funded until Jan 30, which would end the shutdown. For those watching for anti-trans provisions, there are none in the CR.

Senate Vets-MilCon, Leg, Ag minibus bills for FY26 have no riders.
Dems have spent the past two months saying they're fighting to address the crisis of spiking healthcare costs and now they're caving for a deal that does nothing to address healthcare costs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Clearly the US needs a political party to counter the two right wing ones.

Maybe important to note it was the disruption in air travel that Democrats couldn't stand and not, you know, 40+ million people not knowing where their next meal was coming from.

So no health care subsidy extensions and a trans medicaid ban, right?

So the dems won elections and now can go back to being republicans, apparently.

I am traveling (I don’t mind people knowing this - my home is occupied too), and Australia’s border was soooo choatic. The actual process to cross was easy, just lots of queuing by people with wildly different ideas from each other about queuing. So overloaded now!

Thinking today about how men have last names and women don't. This is a common bias, and one reason I use titles and last names when writing about other women.

When I see two women with the same first name conflated together, in a way "Mikes" aren't, I hope someday women will be full people. 1/2

Don't Fear the Reaper is a fascinating airline music choice. Not what I'd pick, but, hey, I'm not a marketing expert, lol.

What is time?

Like I don't know what day it is, I don't know whether it is morning or afternoon or something else.

Sometimes I think my auditory processing disorder doesn't rise to the level of a disability, and then I try to have a conversation with someone literally anywhere but an extremely quiet room.

Republicans railed against paper straws (which to be fair do suck, or rather they don’t) but here I am 24 yrs after 9/11 using plastic cutlery in an airport restaurant.

“woke” is when you acknowledge that black people have contributed to the united states
Two panels commemorating the contribution of Black American soldiers towards the liberation of the Netherlands in World War Two have been quietly removed from a cemetery in Limburg. It follows a complaint by right-wing think tank The Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission.

I am amused that the airport bar here is quieter than either the gate area or the airline lounge. Even with the bar TVs on.

I can't believe some people sell their body for a living. There is long term health consequences to them (too numerous to list), and, even worse, it supports evil. It destroys lives and families

I'm talking about coal mining.

We are thrilled with the renewed attention that The Carpentries has received for deciding to withdraw a $1.5 million proposal to the National Science Foundation (NSF), thanks to a recent similar decision made by the @python.org (PSF) and the generous shout-out they gave us when they announced it. 🙏
