Hi, I'm Julie!
After being fired in February I moved from North Carolina to be safe in Oregon because I am trans.

I can get access to my lifetimes worth of belongings if I can raise the rest of money needed to finish paying the movers.

Trans children and adolescents routinely cite online communities as life-saving in the face of irl peer networks that can be alienating and bigoted.

Using a policy that makes lives worse for trans kids to sidestep how media and government have created a climate of disposability is beyond repugnant.
On Brianna's 19th birthday, this morning I joined @cheshirepcc.bsky.social and the Brianna Ghey Legacy Project Phone Free Education campaign at the launch at Jodrell Bank of a new £150k initiative to make Cheshire the first county in the UK where ALL state high schools have lockable phone pouches.

Are you genuinely too thick to be aware of how many trans people's families misgender and dishonor us in death, or are you just vile and craven enough to pretend you don't know even when talking to queer people?
Do you not think it's bizarre to have strangers on the internet decide they know better than Brianna's own loved ones on what is or isn't insulting to her memory?

I've got no time for Rosie Duffield, but she turned up at a drop-in event in Parliament and that's been the limit of her involvement.

But also, I told you when used effectively shame works. The problem is Elon isn't shamed by normal things like the weight of being responsible for the deaths of 600,000 people, or being a white supremacist or whatever. Oates just landed on a pressure point.

Left wing people have a hard time getting along with the right wingers that want them dead.

That is true.

But it isn't our fault
This is the average person who describes themself as “moderate”

I find academics particularly awkward about telling audiences something some people might already know, even though I've found that when someone repeats some things I already know as background it enhances my perception of their credibility

Don't fear the repetition, embrace it!

trans women have been dealing with 'major recession' levels of unemployment for years and now we're watching payment processors close off the sex work a lot of us rely on to make ends meet

they won't need to round us up for camps if we just starve I guess

Does anyone know if the Medicaid ban on trans healthcare is included in this "deal"?

Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

He said that the agents would throw food at them to eat. The agents threatened to withhold food for a week and to beat him up if he didn't sign deportation papers. He said he saw others refuse and get beaten/receive no food. He signed because he was afraid.

On the one hand, great to be law. OTOH, how many Americans died during the century between when the House - representing the will of the American people - voted to make lynching a crime and when the Senate finally decided to pass the Emmitt Till anti-lynching act?

The House would continue to pass anti-lynching legislation and the Senate would continue to not even both to bring it up for a vote FOR AN ENTIRE CENTURY. And then finally, in 2022 they caved and the Emmitt Till Anti-Lynching Act was signed into law. deathpenaltyinfo.org/more-than-a-...

Now, if you've watched Schoolhouse Rock you know that if one chamber passes a bill the other can choose to take it up or not, and if they do and pass said bill it goes to the President. The Senate in 1922... chose not to decide. (Geddy Lee voice: "you still have made a choice!")

For that, you've got to look to the Senate's century long commitment to ensuring that Black Americans could be legally lynched. I am not being hyperbolic. Because in 1922, the House passed legislation to make lynching a federal crime. naacp.org/find-resourc...

i’ve voted for Murphy and if Schumer organizes a surrender to the GOP what I expect is for Murphy to enter the Senate chamber and punch Schumer in the damn nose.
So here's where we are, Sunday morning:

Trump is trying to starve hungry kids in order to bully Democrats into abandoning our fight against health care premium increases.

So Trump is starving kids in order to deny families health care.

The answer is that the type of people who become media — wealthy, white, nominally liberal — are nasty fucking bigots who get into “gender critical” horseshit as a hobby. It’s the same with how they openly slander Muslims. They desperately want to find niches where bigotry is acceptable
the harris campaign said the “they/them” ad didn’t sway the election.

one of the trump campaign’s top strategists this week said trans rights isn’t in the top five issues for swing voters.

when will the press stop talking about us like we’re a liability and start looking itself in the mirror
