karen wyld having her fellowship rescinded by state library of queensland, seemingly at the behest of the qld minister for the arts, bc of her support of Palestine is a) fucked, and b) another reminder that without true autonomy and resources, Indigenous communities will always be under the thumb.

It is such a weird miracle to me that Google Docs hasn't been absolutely blanketed in the same desperate design changes meant to artificially manufacture demand for chatbot outputs
Today I opened up Word and now on every freaking line there is an icon for Microsoft's Copilot AI tool, always asking me to use it to write. WTF. After googling, it appears IMPOSSIBLE to remove. I cannot use Word with an AI tool. I'm a professional fucking writer. I don't want it inserting shit.

There's an extension called Sky Follower Bridge that you can use that attempts to find all the people you followed on twitter that does a decent job. 👇

You can also use lists and starter packs to help find good people.

Who the f*ck did Dutton think Pauline Hanson was talking about in 1996? Or his idol John Howard in the 1980s?
Um Asians were literally the targets of hate crimes in Australia during the pandemic & the Coalition actively pushed back against those of us who were raising alarm about it, suggesting it was some beat-up by the CCP

Yes! I have Strong Opinions about this 😂

Stories need *tension* but that can come through revelation, choice, change, love, conciliation, hope...
It does not require *conflict* and we do ourselves a disservice by insisting it does.
I've been talking in more interviews about my antipathy towards the concept of 'conflict' as the base unit of plot, and how I think Aristotle's very old idea has actually damaged us because that quickly becomes story = plot = conflict = violence.

I say that as a fan of fictional violence.

Want to do this survey about queer museums. You don't have to be queer, you do have to have thoughts about queer rep in museums.

(posting on behalf of) Alana Blakers who is doing a PhD on queer museums as part of my ARC project titled Saving Lives: Mapping the influence of Indigenous LGBTIQ+ creative artists. Any and all participation is appreciated

I wish I was in Adelaide tonight to go to the opening of the Radical Textiles exhibition at the Art Gallery of South Australia!

It looks like such a fabulous and powerful exhibition and features this piece made by yours truly 😁

The most significant thing about the exodus to Bluesky is that it constitutes a complete rejection of the liberal media notion that the far-right somehow deserves to be interacted with and placated.
Opinion - The problem with Bluesky: It won’t broaden our horizons: In the wake of Donald Trump’s election win, the social-media platform has enjoyed a surge of new users looking for an alternative to Elon Musk’s X. But will it be useful, if it just creates an echo chamber for the left?

This echo chamber nonsense is predicated on the notion that bigotry is a valid perspective. It isn’t. Grow up! Think better!

This obsession is unhealthy. Our horizons are fine. Also social media, for most, is not a job. It is not school. It is socializing. And it’s fine to say “I don’t want to hang out with Nazis, homophobes, transphobes etc in my free time.”

Note how the first thing new BlueSky users mentioned are moderation and Trust and Safety tools being the dealbreaker.

Because that’s what matters. Digital safety over everything. Doesn’t matter the shiny new tech.

Like I’ve said since day one.

If you get rid of the creeper in your grassroots org NOW it wildly decreases his chances of high office LATER

Like if your org touts harm reduction you gotta start by reducing the harm caused by THE PEOPLE IN YOUR ORG

Yep !! I built guides on it in digital practice . It’s just good business and procedure
This is actually a well-studied effect in communities and community building. By keeping toxic and problematic people around, it empowers them to be who they are and lessens the community. Removing them ASAP improves things for the entire community.
