One of the reasons I am reflexively Liberal when it comes to privacy is because when the government hoovers up data and deploys it for some collateral purpose, it is almost always to the detriment of individuals, whether through incompetence or malice.
This is appalling. The lady who no-showed for her flight but is still down as an “emigrant” (despite continuing to pay tax in the U.K.) is particularly bad, but I also noticed the woman who flew out but Eurostar-ed home. I’ve done that.
