A friend who teaches theology shared with me a post about CS Lewis's Mere Christianity, which discusses foundational Christian logic across denominations. It reminded me of Dale's tweet below, and I wanted to share some thoughts here regarding modesty and respectability, which are often hot topics.

Love in sports when a guy screws up and he pats his chest as if to say, "Yeah, it's on me."

No need dude, we were watching. Trust me, we were already blaming you.

I'll get back to "party unity" as soon as the Senate Minority Leader tells us if he voted for the Democratic party nominee for mayor of his city.

I'm tired of party unity only ever running one way.

There really should be a coordinated effort to force Schumer out as Minority Leader as a result of his failure here.
The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)

Dear Democratic Senators: if you vote for this selling out of the ACA it will be the end of your careers. Depend upon it. You are there to defend this country against Trump and the fascists, not collude with them. If you become Quislings, you will forever REMAIN Quislings

Imagine how quickly you would have been laughed out of a pitch meeting in the late 80s or 1990 when you said something like...
You: I feel like we need a TV cop show and I think if I had a choice, I'd grab Donnie Wahlberg....
Network exec: From New Kids on the Block?
You: Yep and maybe Ice-T

Since Barack Obama, Democratic presidential candidates and "dark money" groups have raised more money than Republicans--often doubling them.

So much of the Dem money is wasted. Publishing a piece on this Sunday explaining these graphs and much more. I need your help to make the piece viral. Thanks!

Part of the reason this struck me is that I've had my head in the 1960s DOJ for a while.

The DOJ press secretary back then was a Pulitzer Prize winner who'd been reporting for twenty years (except when he was winning medals in WWII).

Today, it's the dumbest meanest airhead in middle school.
Everyone's focused on how idiotic Lindsey Halligan is, but don't sleep on the official response from Department of Justice spokeswoman Natalie Baldassarre.

It's just Mean Girls all the way down, if they'd written that script while huffing paint fumes.

Remember April 2009 when about 250,000 people took to America’s streets in Tea Party rallies and the media was like “oh man, the Dems are in trouble?” Approximately 28X as many people took to the streets to protest Trump yesterday. Didn’t even make the NYT front page.
In April of 2009 I observed the Tea Party rally in Salem. As this front page story says, there were a couple hundred people there. This past weekend in Salem there were roughly 2-3000 people at the Hands Off rally. Yet the Tea Party coverage seemed to take that event far more seriously.

This is a reason why we should ditch the Electoral College & Senate & adopt proportional representation for the House so every voter counts equally no matter where they live.

Our system insulates the governing party from electoral blowback in uncompetitive states & districts if it screws them over
Trump is upfront in saying he will use the shutdown to punish Democrats, and here are the receipts. About $27.2 billion cut from Dem districts compared to about $0.7 billion in GOP districts.
We all complain about the media, but need this type of in-depth journalism.

The personal interviews and portraits are concise but powerfully relate these cuts’ impact on peoples' lives.

I asked Chris Murphy if he privately talks to Dem colleagues about why they don't sound the alarm loudly. His answers were depressing. Dems tell him they don't want to be "alarmist" or that "democracy" didn't work in 2024, so they want to stick to health care. 5/
