On my last few trips on the NYC subway, unsolicited prophets (1 per every 2-3 trips?) were a much more frequent problem than murderous criminals (no one murdered me or anyone in my field of vision)

One little petty thing that turns me against Cat Stevens from his autobiography -- he spent decades insisting that people not call him "Cat Stevens" (he's now OK with it or I wouldn't) yet he casually deadnames Wendy Carlos when talking about records he liked in the late sixties.

if you are feeling bad (understandably!) about the state of the US, may I strongly recommend visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington? I did so the weekend before the election and it has stayed with me in a very good way
once again saying: our ancestors accomplished more, with less, against worse.

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.
