I wanted to buy a tubular scarf off Vinted but it came with a frilly Elizabethan collar and the seller wouldn't split them. Still, I suppose you have to take the ruff with the snood.

Absolutely. Please get on with it.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Douglas Barrowman and Michelle Mone's company, PPE Medpro, has just been ordered to refund the Government £122m from a PPE contract.

There are two very odd things about PPE Medpro that may affect the odds of the Government ever getting that £122m...

It is WILD to be an elder millenial or older rn. We watched the whole Internet emerge from sketchy AOL chat rooms into something so powerful and curated, and then watched it engulf all aspects of computing and slowly make them unequivocally worse, while its own core search function was annihilated.
For real though. I don't want to subscribe to anything that will eventually change its terms and become enshittified. I want physical control of stuff I create and I don't want it touched at any stage by the ecocide plagiarism machine. And I want software that works. Apparently way too much to ask.

I am working on speeding up #Elite on the #Acorn #Electron.

It's going well. On the left is the original; on the right is my enhanced version. It's all down to sideways RAM and backporting faster code from the #BBCMicro and #C64 versions.

More details in thread. (1/4)

Johnson put a border in the Irish Sea, sold out the fishing industry, all SMEs trading with the EU, our farmers, universities, musicians, young people, scientists, all of us…
And now he sits in the mess he made throwing insults at those who are clearing up after him.
What a monumental piece of shit.

Perhaps the UK Media could just step out of 2017 and consider the possibility that we all (yes WE) might soon have much bigger problems that fish quotas. Why do you think the UK wants access to EU defence projects? For the fun of upsetting Jacob Rees-Mogg?
