New traffic signals are now active at the Barrington Street crosswalk in front of Scotia Square. Push the button, wait for the light, look both ways and cross safely. The new lights enhance pedestrian safety, improve traffic flow and help people get where they’re going.

It gives an idea of how much the bike counters can undercount, since there were 110 bikes. No doubt a particularly challenging circumstance to count accurately.

About 110 people on their bikes had a great time at I Light HFX 2025, jointly organized with Dal/Kings Bike Centre. Big thanks to our sponsors, Wagners Law, Halifax Cycles, Giant Halifax and Long Alley Bicycles. Also thanks to the ride marshals, Halifax Bike Party, and all the organizers.

Every city should be building some of these to create safe streets where cars are allowed, but are slow speed guests.
NYC knows how to build self-enforcing streets that slow vehicles and micromobility down (to benefit pedestrians.)
