• the Kids Online Safety Act - KOSA
• the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act - IODA
• and the SCREEN Act
All three bills claim to protect minors by placing a duty of care on online platforms to prevent exposure to harmful things. But Republicans keep expanding the definition of "harmful." Notably, FTC Chair Ferguson signed up "to fight wokeness" - a label the Trump administration applies to anything it doesn't like.
The people in power can't be trusted with laws like these. If passed, these bills would harm LGBTQ teens, adults, and anyone who needs information on reproductive health or abortion. The SCREEN act will enable constant surveillance of American citizens, and put the sensitive data of everyone - especially children - at risk. The UK's disastrous rollout of the Online Safety Act is a perfect example of how unpopular, dangerous, and ineffective these laws are.
Again, I urge you to oppose KOSA, IODA, and the SCREEN act.

If all porn is made illegal, you can also make illegal the expression of any person you hate by defining them as obscene and pornographic.
