In an era where support for trans rights and LGBTQ+ in general was more tepid and understated, because people were afraid to upset bigots, GDQ decided they were going to be loudly, unapologetically inclusive. The result is one of the greatest communities in video games.
The extent to which Games Done Quick has helped to steer the larger speedrunning community - one of the most hardcore video game enthusiast subcultures there is - into becoming something so welcoming, inclusive and supportive astonishes me

So it turns out Taiwan has a very convoluted jus sanguinis that allows me to get Taiwanese citizenship, but it involves me leaving the country (because I last entered as a "normal" foreigner) and re-entering it as a citizenship-seeker. So, surprise trip back to Germany I guess.
I just learned that I'm going to be let go from my job, which also means that I have to find a new way to keep my permission to continue living in Taiwan. Things are a bit hectic right now.

Looks like the uhaul will end up being about $150 after the insurance and all. So far no one has donated. I'm trying really hard to survive, but I can't move my couch or my mattress in the car I'm borrowing.

One thing I hate that ttrpgs do is have a "get XP for roleplaying."
fuck that. Everyone gets that XP every session.
Saying, "Yeah, you were here and did stuff but you didn't rise above the level I think should be rewarded. If you were in a play, I'd have walked out at intermission" feels shitty

How many people will understand that this game is turn based, but not in the way they think? (Judging by all the comments on the 30 day/night limit, not many.)
The way my brain works is by categorizing everything, and I've been looking at different ways to sort through game systems/procedures (so, subsystems/minigames inside a game as a whole). I think I've finally clarified a category for myself: progressive (eg. combat) vs. continuous (eg. hexcrawling).
