If you are grandfathered in to Ring you can turn off all the settings for Police and βpetβ surveillance permissions, which are of course default on. Control Center β> public safety and Control Center β> Search Party (this is the one from the Super Bowl ad)
Ring has done this before. They partner with cops, get backlash, withdraw a bit, wait for it to calm down, and then go right back to working with cops. Don't believe this spin.
