In Ukraine, this is common knowledge. Yes, Western governments have chosen to sacrifice Ukraine to preserve the illusion that nothing is happening.

As for Merkel, she not only pressured Ukraine not to resist in 2014, she was among those who blocked Ukraine’s NATO bid in 2008, paving the way for war

I keep seeing Dems blamed for this guy's candidacy and I just want to point out that less than a week ago the complaint was that Dems weren't backing him. This is a case study in how easy it is to manipulate recent history.
“Betcha not a single downvoter is a real combat vet. Feel free to back it up with facts, fags,” Graham Platner wrote on a 2018 Reddit thread. There are half a dozen more antigay comments attributable to him.

Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner admits using ‘indefensible’ antigay slurs in unearthed Reddit posts
"Today I find that stuff abhorrent," Platner told The Advocate. "And I am sorry that I ever used it.”

I seem to recall that it was the biggest 1st Amendment attack in American history when the Biden admin alerted social media companies to some content and said "hey does this violate your policies?" Will Matt Taibbi, Michael Shellenberger and (lol) CBS News Editor in Chief Bari Weiss call this out?

I am absolutely 100% not going to get sucked into some "what happened to Amelia Earhart, there was a cover-up" discussion.

If you know anything about aviation in that period, then you know this was a pilot error accident. A lot of pilots died in that era. There is no mystery.

Let. It. Go.

i really wish our law enforcement and media werent telegraphing to mass shooters that messages written on bullets will be breathlessly and uncritically publicized with no further examination

People think I'm joking when I say this but I really mean it:

The fact that Trump constantly threatens to arrest or murder members of the press makes them respect him more. Mentality of whipped dogs.
“who should the DOJ target” is a *grossly* inappropriate question to ask the president, it’s even more inappropriate for him to answer, and every member of the press corpse with an ounce of integrity should have made that point and walked out the door and there
REPORTER: Gabbard has submitted a criminal referral. Who should the DOJ target?

TRUMP: It would be President Obama. And Biden was there with him ... the leader of the gang was Obama. Barack Hussein Obama. He's guilty. This is treason.

It may not seem so amazing now, but in the context of 2006, Colbert's absolutely searing routine at the White House Correspondents Association dinner was a bright spot and a brave moment during the Bush years. He's gonna blow the doors off on his way out en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen...

Colbert will be all right, maybe even better off. The world's his oyster and I'm sure MSNBC and Netflix will come calling. He could stand up the biggest late night YouTube channel in days. But they are just torching the Late Show, an institution, solely to appease a dictator. And that fucking sucks.

Why didn’t Dems put Trump in jail over the Epstein stuff? Because Alex Acosta and Alan Dershowitz got Epstein a deal that came with a non-prosecution agreement for Epstein’s clients and coconspirators. Then trump rewarded Acosta with a job as Labor Secretary.
He’s got the chalkboard out. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
