Appoint the new Treasury Secretary has acting Homeland Security Secretary, fold maybe like the coasties, the part of USCIS that actually grants benefits, and I guess CBP-OFO after a good scrubbing into Treasury, the rest can be RIFed. DHS will still exist technically, to satisfy the statute.
gotta do investigations into DHS “waste, fraud and abuse” as pretext for killing the agency

I do, on occasion, change a mind in a debate online with someone that isn’t like, a mutual (lots of mind changing there, including from me, but it’s different).

The goal for me is usually 1) for anyone who comes across the thread and, 2) I believe it does start to sow doubt

But mostly Ana’s right.
The secret to engaging in social media debate is knowing you will never win anyone over. The best you can hope for is to have people who already agree with tell you you're awesome. You might great a dopamine thrill from the righteousness of your anger! Fine benefits, all. But you will never win.

According to ancestry dot com’s DNA test, I’m between 85-100% English, Irish, and Scottish ancestry. I feel fairly confident that if my ancestors were so concerned with being a part of that culture, they would’ve stayed put.
1/3 What Musk is really referring to here is, of course “race” - that construct that served to define the hierarchies of wealth & power structured by modern colonialism. Like other far right racists though, he uses the word “culture” as a seemingly less pernicious synonym.

Of all things to criticize AOC about, boilerplate on Taiwan gets people upset?

Sorry tankie leftists, she didn’t say everything bad in the world is America’s fault, and indicated that deterring Chinese imperialism could be good.

Sorry, fake China hawks, she was measured instead of fire-breathing.

What a silly reaction. Trump isn't involved in accepting or rejecting results of the midterms, he doesn't have a relevant role!
This may be the most dangerous development of all. It will give Trump fake legal pretext to reject Nov election results. American democracy has like 9 months left.

This is median, of all people between 21 and 64. It’s basically reflecting the fact that just under 50% of people in that age range don’t have a defined contribution retirement plan.

Mean for the same group is $93k.

For 21-64yo with such a plan, median and mean are $93k and $179k, respectively.

The obvious response to this absurdity is that doing a thing Congress has barred you from doing with appropriated funds can never be an emergency “involving the safety of human life or the protection of property” just because that appropriation timed out.
Noem to Congress: if you don't fund us, then we don't have to obey the law. But if you do fund us, we also won't obey the law.

Please read his books and essays; please teach your children his story when they are old enough to understand.

Even perusing the Epstein files puts you at risk of prosecution for knowingly possessing CSAM. If you just come across it, it would be a reach for them to prosecute, but it would be a colorable argument given you’ve likely seen people say it contains it.

Sharing a specific piece of CSAM? Slam dunk.
If you post CSAM to show the horrible CSAM in the files...

There is no universe where posting CSAM to show people how bad it is, ends well for you.

YAY you made your point.

You also inflicted CSAM on unsuspecting people.

No 'point proving' exception to the law.

YOU POSTED CSAM YOU FUCKING MORON

Poor Coastie, gets fired, then rehired, and now he’ll have to go without pay, all because these two are aggressively incompetent assholes.
Corey Lewandowski "fired a U.S. Coast Guard pilot after [Kristi] Noem's blanket was left behind on a plane" — a decision that was reversed when they realized they needed someone to take them home.

People said Noem and Lewandowski "do little to hide their relationship inside the department."

As I said a couple days ago
I have considered downloading the whole archive just to have, but honestly I’m pretty sure it contains CSAM and I think a prosecutor could probably show I knew it did for purposes of 18 USC 2252A
The Epstein files have been updated; it now consists of nearly 430 GB of data and 1,500,000 files.

This includes documents that have since been deleted by the Department of Justice.

Interesting that Lyons is saying this, given that DHS still calls Marimar Martinez a “domestic terrorist”
WOW. Incredible. This is the case in which DHS claimed that ICE officers had been attacked with a shovel and fired back in self-defense. Evidence since suggests an ICE officer fired through a closed door and struck someone on the other side.

Will DHS retract the prior claims?
