NEW: Dems easily flipped the sheriff's office in Pennsylvania's Bucks County, a big swing county in the Philly suburbs.

So? The incumbent GOP sheriff had contracted with ICE. His Dem challenger promised to end the contract.

Now he wants other swing-state Dems to look at his victory as a lesson:
Voters Ousted This Pennsylvania Sheriff After He Signed Up to Collaborate With ICE - Bolts
A populous, swing county replaced its GOP sheriff on Tuesday after months of controversy over his joining ICE’s 287(g) program. The Democratic winner promises he’ll end the contract.

Jim Henson & Frank Oz characters were often paired onscreen, but here’s a unique pairing from SESAME STREET's 2nd season - Ernie & Cookie Monster. I appreciate the skill needed to accurately tip ingredients into a bowl from such an awkward angle. Who’s up for trying to re-create Ernie’s cake recipe?

Speaking of Jim Henson & Frank Oz pairings, there’s a delightful vaudevillian quality to this bit, which exemplifies the deft way SESAME STREET was able to utilize a heaping spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down - key to it becoming an iconic, & effective, educator...

Another fun Jim Henson & Frank Oz pairing of Ernie & Cookie Monster from SESAME STREET’s 2nd season. The comedy feels very much in the Muppet house-style, finely honed over hundreds of TV appearances/ads. I also very much sympathize with the message - From both perspectives.

It’s wild to suggest this is a circular firing squad or something when it’s millions of citizen Democrats who hate it versus 47 elected Democrats who conspired to surrender for nothing.

We’re not fighting “each other,” we’re fighting you. There’s only a few dozen of you, but you hold all the power.
But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.

Excellent explainer on why we shouldn't jump off the cliff just yet, but her tuxedo cat steals show. EXACT same persistent, attention-grabbing, adorably annoying moves as our tuxedo. And Allison does not miss a beat no matter what kitty tries. 😹
There’s still time to call senators. Let me explain. Sorry not sorry about the cat. He’s also really upset about this deal.

Sesame Street premiered with the goal of ensuring that Black and brown children received the fundamentals of early childhood education. My maternal grandmother was part of the fight in our neighborhood. She helped to open the first early childhood center in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn.
“Sesame Street” is set in a fictional New York neighborhood and includes ethnically diverse characters and positive social messages. It has also tackled an array of tough subjects, from HIV to the opioid crisis. The name was inspired by Ali Baba’s magical phrase, “open sesame.” /end

I’m sad and I’m furious. The Senate voted to reopen without securing healthcare protections. Millions still stand to lose coverage.

The fight shifts to the House now. There are cracks. Pressure matters. If you’re in a GOP district, call your Rep.

And I think he did great work with media but honestly nothing had me saying "oh wow communicator of a generation."

No. He's likeable, he's decent, his policies are popular, he has a campaign work ethic.

Maybe most importantly: he obviously had competent staff and obviously listened to them.
The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon
