Zohran Mamdani won a historic victory yesterday in New York City's mayoral election, and 17 of our 18 endorsees won their races up and down the ballot, proving once again that safer streets and better public transit aren't just good policy – they're good politics! www.streetspac.org/2025_general...

This is really exciting!!! @nyc311.bsky.social is FINALLY migrating to a unified login platform. This was scheduled to happen several years ago, but COVID and a particularly bad DOITT commissioner restricted NYC311 improvements.

"Zohran Mamdani was elected in part because he made getting around the Big Apple like the rest of us — by foot, bike, bus, and train — a central part of his appeal, and a key point of contrast between him and Gotham’s political establishment."

Interesting...
The private waste carting industry was once too big, too complex, and impossible to rein in. But once the City Council passed the Commercial Waste Zones Law, enforcement and accountability became possible.

What if this model was applied to delivery apps?

What's next? One speeding or red-light ticket per hour? It boggles the mind.

🧵 Transportation Alternatives has issued an expansive and comprehensive roadmap for transforming NYC's streets, public spaces, and transportation systems, and Mayor-elect @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social is just the person to implement it.
When Mayor-elect Mamdani takes office on January 1, he will control over 6,300 miles of streets throughout the five boroughs.

Reducing car dependence is one of the best ways to reduce costs for New Yorkers. Owning a car costs nearly $9,000 annually, while taking transit costs just $1,500.

As it should be...
To address safety issues (bc of drivers) my kids’ school recently changed the pick up process to get rid of the car pick up line entirely.

Caregivers have to park nearby & walk up to the blacktop to get their kids.

It’s calmer, safer, and bikes can still roll right up onto the blacktop.
