Lots of talk about primarying congressional members. Meanwhile when I talk about wanting to primary incumbent state legislators people act like it shouldn’t even be allowed…how are you supposed to hold elected officials accountable in safe Dem seats if you don’t primary them???

My son Seamus died 15 years ago today. He was killed by a careless driver in a crosswalk.

He walked at 9 months, almost as if he knew he wouldn’t have much time. His favorite thing to do was throw rocks into water. He loved the moon. He called butterflies “buddy buddies.” I miss him every day.

I've attended a few of these (excited to send my kids to Jefferson!) and am so shocked how often parents who want to send their kids to Grant bring up real estate and property values. I mean I knew they were thinking it, but to just come out and say it??? 🫣 🤢

Ran out of candy so I started offering kids slices of bread. One group demanded potatoes instead. I don’t have potatoes so I gave them 2 heads of garlic, a lime, and a kiwi 🤷‍♀️

Three of my neighbors in district 1 were killed in three separate car collisions last night. We need action now to reduce pedestrian and cyclist deaths.

YOU need to do more to improve your own driving. Do better. Keep your neighbors alive.

"Speed was not believed to be a factor in the crash." It was a factor in the severity of the injuries and the death and likely why the person driving hit the children while they were in a legal, but unmarked crosswalk. It was one block from the crash location that the speed limit went from 35 to 40.

I asked my middle schoolers how their day was, a question normally met with grunts and shrugs. I was not prepared to hear that they had a sub in 1st period and a kid with pink eye was chasing everyone around the classroom so they built a barricade by piling desks in the center of the room 🫣

2 things I've noticed in Portland (where we are having a similar convo): 1)Proponents of segregating children by test scores do not want to talk about demographic disparities; and 2) they co-opt disability rights language, claiming (w/o evidence) that gifted children have uniquely high support needs
