"His retirement from the Senate clears the path for state Sen. Jamaal Bailey to take over leadership when Stewart-Cousins leaves the position."

In other news, Stewart-Cousins is retiring?

Bailey has praised bus lanes, scooter share and speed cameras, so he'd probably be a good Majority Leader!

John Pegram got the Jacobs engineering winning technical proposal for the IBX. This is a really fascinating look at just how much work the MTA and its contractor will need to do on the ROW. Which is, a lot. They’re turning into a trench — bqrail.substack.com/p/interborou...

Hey @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social, minor request but one of these 'nudges' with outsized influence:

@nyc311.bsky.social alerts have a near daily parking reminder. 90% of New Yorkers don't need that.

Ask drivers to sign up for some special alerts only they need.

Send flower emojis to the rest of us.

Where are my transit people - anyone know more about this old subway/train map on the floor of Grand Central?

It looks so cool but the full thing didn’t appear to withstand updates to flooring over the years. I saw it out of the corner of my eye in a tucked away corner near the food concourse.

Remember those red "SNOW ROUTE" signs? In 2013, the city quietly removed every last one and abandoned the idea of snow routes altogether.

But who made that decision? And why does the city's official website still insist that these signs — and the snow routes they designate — exist?

What happened to the bright red signs that banned parking from snow emergency routes in New York City?

Time for a toast with your @nytpitchbot.bsky.social mug!

Seriously, the Brooklyn Democratic organization being in disarray is an improvement over when it was an effective dissent suppression machine. But I would rather see it effectively represent residents!

Insightful piece from @davidzipper.bsky.social: “If AVs are 20% safer than human drivers and expand total driving by 30%, total crashes would increase by 4%”

I think the jury is still out on how AVs are going to affect systemwide goals like Vision Zero.
We Still Don’t Know if Robotaxis Are Safer Than Human Drivers
And even if self-driving technology proves to be less dangerous, there are many better ways to improve traffic safety and prevent fatal crashes.

every time someone alleges that we don’t *actually* have a housing supply shortage i just think of this cartoon.

what if the supply shortage is a big hoax and we allow cities to integrate and be more sustainable environmentally and fiscally and get rid of a bunch of pointless rules for nothing?

What's actually unfair:
🔹 Drivers gambling with other people's lives when they floor it and hope they don't get caught
🔹 Police deciding whether to issue a ticket to speeders they pull over

Speed cameras are a solution — not a problem.

Same BS, this time it's in my city. An ice agent arrested someone in a public train station and he said he didn't need a warrant. The person filming and following was told that if they came on the elevator with them, they would be interfering with the arrest.
