I get that the it's the New York CITY Economic Development Corporation, but not showing the location of the Bayonne cruise terminal on this map demonstrates that they're not really serious.

The EDC is a corrupt, undemocratic kludge and should have been disbanded years ago.

You got me thinking about the parking for a hospital near me here in Queens, and I couldn't think where it was. Checking Google Maps, I realized that I have walked past it. It's 64 spaces stacked two high, tucked away on a side street, a block from the hospital.

There is a train three blocks away.

This is simply not the conventional meaning of zone-based fares.

This assumes everyone who wants to travel is willing to submit proof of residency - or pay $5 a ride?

What about live-in nannies? Subsidized housing in wealthy neighborhoods?

In general:

In Asbury Park, of all places? Looking on Google Maps, I don't see a single one-way street near the Boardwalk, and the surplus pavement is used for angle parking!

How much tunneling would be required to connect the outer Hoyt tracks to the lower level of Smith Street?

Fortunately, in my neighborhood we have one of the Smart Compost bins on the corner, in case our building's bins fill up:

I knew some of the ferries in the Puget Sound were big, but I didn't realize they could take tractor trailers! Here's a ferry that runs from Crete to Piraeus (the port of Athens):

Challenge: post your last photo of DC to show what a hellhole it is.

To be fair, Amtrak boarding practices at Union Station do suck. But the National Guard ain't gonna fix 'em.

Sure, the Central Parks Conservancy wants to hire some people with driver's licenses.

But you do not need one to rake leaves or clean toilets. Requiring one for EVERY FULL-TIME JOB is a big middle finger to the working-class population of NYC.

I'm just lmao because in the 2023 Planning and Environmental Linkages study there weren't any white people. There weren't any Black people. Only gray people!

Rajkumar is indeed generally pro-car and kind of creepy. But her wardrobe includes several tight-fitting bright red dresses that she rotates through.

To the point: the right-of-way crosses her district, and the stops at Myrtle and Wilson Avenues would greatly increase access for her constituents.

I was also surprised that NYC only dropped one rank after implementing #CongestionPricing, but then I saw that the travel time and crash data are two years old. Let's see how NYC looks in the 2027 rankings!

Also, "Hours of congestion" doesn't measure how widespread the congestion is in those hours!

"The Manhattan Bridge has for the past decade had five lanes [inbound]

"The lanes below could instead become a bike and pedestrian greenway, and set of lanes for a new inter-borough bus line, said [Michael] King, who drew up plans for a possible revamp in 2021."

Just took the monthly #MTA survey, and fully HALF the ten responses to the question about subway satisfaction invite respondents to express fear or anger towards other passengers:

* They're unpredictable!
* They're asleep!
* They're not paying!
* "Personal security concerns"
* MOAR cops!

People in this article point out how fast Cuomo's staff was able to release unflattering information about Boylan after she accused him.

That's common in sexual harassment cases, but I'm pretty sure it's not the only time Cuomo's minions smeared people.

Cuomo's power is a lot more specific than what de Blasio says. He controlled ballot lines and patronage jobs when he was in power. But he also saved up dirt, like on Lindsey Boylan.

(Started a new thread because I unwittingly triggered Boylan with my original post.)

It's a lot more specific than what de Blasio says (they want to get re-elected, they don't want too much conflict).

Cuomo controlled ballot lines and patronage jobs when he was in power. But he also saved up dirt, like on @lindseyboylan.bsky.social, for blackmail:

The entrance to the bathrooms at Moynihan Station around 5:30pm on Saturday. I used the men's room, there was no line.

If there's a bathroom built in this century that has a line with more than a dozen women but no line for men, the architect who signed off on it should never work again.

So this, uh, 8 train is going to terminate five blocks south of the A train station? Try saying that out loud.

I've been disappointed every time, but since the MTA has been so timid about expanding bus service I get a little bit of hope every time I hear about a private company giving it a shot.

So I checked out this new "Uber Shuttle." It's all airport. In NYC.
