To address safety issues (bc of drivers) my kids’ school recently changed the pick up process to get rid of the car pick up line entirely.
Caregivers have to park nearby & walk up to the blacktop to get their kids.
It’s calmer, safer, and bikes can still roll right up onto the blacktop.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

One thing the mayor-elect could do between now and January 1 is to call on Kathy Hochul to veto the bill on her desk that would ban one-person train operations in the NYC subway. Mamdani was absent the day of the vote, and banning OPTO is incompatible with lower cost (or free) transit.

This is why I was in favor of Liz Crowley's trolley through Glendale and Middle Village, while so many "transit advocates" were saying, "ooh, not enough riders!"
However, the purple and red neighborhoods that are rich Manhattanites or bridge-and-tunnel Queens and Staten Island people should be contested with an eye to increasing the share of car-free tenant voters. Upzone them near transit and ram through bus and bike lanes. Turn them into Greenpoint 2.

I'd be really happy if Sherrill hadn't parroted so much bullshit about congestion pricing. Is she just going to be another Phil Murphy - talking big on transit and not doing much?
More impressive than Hudson and Essex posting 3:1 and 4:1 margins for the Dems, Sherrill is leading (35% in) in Monmouth County. And if the GOP is struggling to hang onto the Shore, there’s a think piece to be had in that.
