Here in Paris I don’t search for the exit or startle when a car backfires. There’s sensible gun laws here and gun violence is few and far between. My heart ACHES for all the innocent children in the US bc of some antiquated law put in place centuries ago.

It’s still illegal to do in Germany. The 1st thing they told us when we got to Germany in study abroad was that we should never do it. That it wasn’t a joke. I watched neo-nazis march through Dresden in 2010. It’s hard to fathom being so spineless or self-deluding to pretend that’s not what this is.

as I stayed up and scrolled and logged into the live feeds of the creators I loved, I was filled with great sadness and loss of community I’ve built.
Tik tok is social media which means it’s powered by people connecting with each other, and tik tok fostered many communities. Dismissing it as a dumb dancing app tells me you’re deeply out of touch with the world (as well as a boring garden variety asshole)

The department that coordinates these incredible emergency responses, the Emergency Management Department, gets about $4million - less than .1% of LAPD’s budget.
