this is what they took from us
It’s hard to believe but there was a cartoon about an immigrant mouse and it was seen as totally fine and not controversial and not woke because it was an aspirational and nice thing about America that people could come here and find a better life

I am amused by the teen youth who thought my Breeders mystery tee was a Raiders shirt by saying “Did you enjoy your swim, ma’am? I’m glad you’re reppin’ the merch!”

the socializing influence of ‘80s hardcore punk makes it impossible for me to Hand it to Reagan, even for the purpose of owning the even-worse Donald Trump
Y’all know Reagan was a thoroughly evil man, right? He sold weapons to dictators who were enemies of America to fund death squads in Latin America. He laughed about AIDS killing gays. He began his campaign in racist dog whistles and never stopped blowing. He’s not some apex of American politics.

Ta-Nehisi Coates is a serious person and he shows how Elite pundits like Ezra Klein are not serious people.

Ezra's job is to make short-sighted & selfish Elite feel comfortable, Coates is job is to drop truth bombs on Ezra (and US).

They are hiding behind their rage and grief to avoid looking at what they are doing

Their grief and rage is real, and it very hard to hold space for that when our grief and rage is belittled and dismissed, every time

Their feelings are treated as facts, ours treated as punchlines. For years

Make no mistake, this is a pathology. My theory: it's a form of narcissism wherein the afflicted are driven to constantly publicly affirm their "rational man," "above the fray" bone fides. They're lone wolves (all of them, together, along with their sponsors). The easiest way is to ...
Hypothetically. If complimenting trump meant that there would definitely be 2026 elections and the Dems would sweep Congress in a landslide , would you compliment Trump ?

Or, Is is that thought so abhorrent, you couldn’t bring yourself to do it. Even at the expense of staying the minority?

Consider who is hurt by demonizing these terms and you’ll know who we’re supposed to hate. How about let’s fight for them instead.
It would be a huge step forward for Democrats and for general clarity in political writing if these terms went away. These came mostly from academic hothouses.
