I’m too scared to watch this movie.

1956, but this laundry room water feature was almost certainly installed later. When we pulled up all the floating (literally) vinyl floor, there were several layers of peel and stick tiles over old linoleum to level out an area that had previously flooded. We replaced the entire subfloor.
A laundry room sink. It is a cast iron drop-in type which has been installed free-standing on one leg. The leg is an adjustable type, which is also on a small block of wood. The faucet has been jerry-rigged to old laundry hookups, and a washing machine drain pipe runs down next to the sink and is attached to the drainpipe above the U-bend. None of the drainpipes are wide enough for a washing machine drain, so the water would back up into the sink and come pouring over the top.

Here is the finished candied pumpkin! Apparently I did all right, because at first someone thought one of the Salvadoran Tias made it, and there wasn’t any left to take home.

Some of the team at work are making pupusas for lunch tomorrow, and invited us all to bring desserts or hot drinks. I’m making candied pumpkin. 🍽️
Cut up pieces of pumpkin, skin, seeds and all, nestled flesh-down in an enameled Dutch oven. It is a Winter Luxury pumpkin, so the skin is kind of warty. It just started cooking so it is still raw, but everything is glistening from the syrup. I used Pati Jinich’s recipe, adding some honey, clove, and a vanilla bean.
