I hedge on everything.

Okay, not everything.

Super cool that the absolute BEST case scenario we can hope for from a second Trump administration is a 24 hour bribe factory and an endless conveyer belt of underhandedness and self dealing.

If those things happen and nothing else, that would be me breathing a sigh of relief

I reached out to the author of this viral Reddit post thinking there might be a story in it. He sent me an employee badge that Gemini flagged as being AI-generated and supporting documents that I suspect were also generated by AI. Be careful out there folks!

This pervasive, pernicious framing concedes that Republicans have no agency in any of their evil and are simply doing what they do. I continue to think that fallacy is more damaging than that the exterminators (btw, interesting choice!) are overmatched.

ACA tax credits expired on 12/31. Trump is not complying w Epstein release but what's come out is damning. Dead bodies in the Carribbean. Fragile peace in Ukraine and the Middle East. So House floor time next week will be dedicated to... rolling back shower head and energy efficiency standards.

Took some time to think about what I needed from the movies aiming to engage with the current political landscape this year. Shout out to both my fantastic editor Clare Lombardo and the truly dreadful ELLA MCCAY, for helping me crystalize my perspective.

For the record, he is a traitor, thus ineligible for the presidency, and his entire reign is illegitimate on a legal level. This seems worth stating from time to time.
NYT: “In a newly obtained recording of a phone call from late 2020, President Trump can be heard pressing the speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives to hold a special legislative session to overturn Mr. Trump’s election loss.”

My dad was a state judge and made me take the KERRY EDWARDS bumper sticker off my car in 2004 because the title was in his name.
When I was a judicial law clerk in Montana, Pres Bush flew into the Billings airport for a rally.

I wanted to see Air Force One and asked the judge I clerked for if I could go. He said no, that it wouldn’t be appropriate.

And I was just a clerk. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/10/u...

Something every 2026/28 Dem should commit to is investigations of any company that did deals with Trump. A kind of forward guidance to get companies to think twice in advance of what’s coming.
Fox News will applaud this but can you imagine their coverage if President Biden hatched a secret plan to take over Fox News and revamp its programming to be nicer to him

What’s so corrosive is, these sham cases are win-win for Trump. If he gets a conviction, great, if he doesn’t, he still muddies the water on if **any** prosecution has ever been apolitical. Sewing distrust is the animating impulse behind virtually every choice he makes. It’s what authoritarians do.
NEW: The prosecutions of James Comey and Letitia James could be in jeopardy after a federal judge expressed significant doubt that President Trump's handpicked prosecutor was legitimately appointed.
