An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

The thing is we've known that housing the homeless is cheaper than neglect, we've known that Ubi is effective at eliminating poverty, we've known that heavily subsidized housing and education leads people into the middle class, we've known all of these things in some cases for 70 years.

I've long thought how appalling it is that so much of Ontario's waterfront is given to private cottagers and entirely inaccessible to the public. Shocked (but probably shouldn't be) that Ford wants to make it worse.

The thing about Mamdani is this is how it's supposed to go. The person with the popular stances on things should get elected. The fact that it's exceptional proves how much energy the political machine pours into preventing this.
