It's amazing how Pitch Meeting is pretty much exactly as amusing and charming, as CinemaSins is obnoxious and tedious... like the absolute value equivalent is basically exact, it's like you took the appeal of one of them and multiplied it by negative one to get the other.

watched the JJ McCullough vid about what 2025 (and the 20s in general) added to American culture and you can definitely debate a lot of points he makes but I think his summary of 20s graphic design as “bright clashing colors, stylized 3D, and big weird fonts” is spot on, these are so instantly 2020s

12YO girl signed up to do “stand up comedy” at the talent show. 13YO boy decided to heckle her. Teacher started to tell the boy to leave her alone, but the 12YO comedian said “no, no, let him go, this is the closest he’s ever going to get to having a conversation with a girl.”

I feel like the default sound of "TikTok pop" is to take the sound of nothing, and somehow managing to overpolish it.

I don't have a problem with "The Fate of Ophelia" for the same reason I think it's been so successful: because it's written & produced by Max Martin.

That man has literally always written lyrics that are jumbled and incoherent, as long as they scan well and have ENOUGH emotional truth to them.

"One Week" by the Barenaked Ladies is a song that could only have come from basically the only time in the past 40 years where most people were almost completely unconcerned with the fire they didn't start (i.e. the one that's been burning since the world's been turning)

Honestly it makes me hopeful to see that the rest of the world is doing some legitimately really excellent stuff vis a vis humanity's future.

Here's to America breaking our chains and following as soon as goddamn possible.

I usually try not to repost shit like this unless I have something to add, but I legitimately don't understand how it's even possible to argue that Donald Trump isn't the single most loathsome human being to ever hold the presidency, and I am WELL aware of how low that bar is, historically speaking.
“What more is there to say about the character of this petty, hollow, squalid, overstuffed man? — sometimes the point bears stressing: We are led by the most loathsome human being ever to occupy the White House.”

I just watched The Sixth Sense for the first time. I DID know the twist going in, and I was worried that was going to ruin it for me.

Turns out I had nothing to worry about. That was one of the best films I've ever seen, genuine 10/10.

I think I might just have to accept the fact that "Mystical Magical souds like someone sent a Chappell Roan song through converstion therapy" could end up being the single best piece of music criticism I'll ever write.

Just saw Zootopia 2, and yeah, it was fantastic.

Not as thematically ambitious as the first one, but also basically devoid of the clunk the first one had in handling said theme.

Also it was more fun than the first one (which was already a fun watch), as well as significantly less copaganda-ish.

I will say, this song did give me one of my favorite music-listening experiences of the year when I showed it to my girlfriend.

She thought the opening was kinda cute & sweet... then the beat switched.

She stared in horror for like 30 seconds, then turned to me & said "is this their Sicko Mode??"
Your Way's Better by Forrest Frank is not eligible for my Worst List.

If it was, it would be #9 or #10, if it made the list at all.

I've known this for a while now, and I wasn't really worried about it per se, but now that I've seen this year's video, I can confirm...

...GOD, Todd's Worst List he just dropped and the Worst List I'm almost done making are VASTLY different viewing experiences.

There’s no such thing as a bad year for music but I swear this year absolutely cooked in like every genre. I don’t care about saying “current” but I’ve prob listened to more new albums this year than I have in a long, long time.

I'm sorry I stopped paying attention for a second, what the fuck do you mean Life of a Showgirl was Billboard's #1 album of 2025 off of one single fucking tracking week???

So I finally watched Kpop Demon Hunters for the first time and WOW, I need to stop letting hype effect me so much.

That was a really fun and well-made film, solid 8/10, there's no reason I should be DISAPPOINTED by that... but yeah, it wasn't really the tour de force I had been less to expect.

Developing a Gaston movie might actually be the most MAGA-coded thing the Disney corporation could possibly do
I do not want Gaston backstory, I do not need Gaston backstory, I reject Gaston backstory

he is a fully formed oaf, consuming eggs by the dozen in one of the greatest villain songs ever written, and that is all we need of him

Disney is in early development on a new live-action pic centered on the Beauty and the Beast character Gaston.

Elon's little serfs are quite literally begging journalists to come back because every publicly available source of data shows people have fled the platform and young people won't use it.

They are literally begging regular people to come back. Don't do it! It is a website by and for actual Nazis!

In hindsight, it's actually kind of iconic that 2024's pop music was so legendary that it literally broke 2025's pop music.

There's a part of me that thinks politicians shouldn't be allowed to use social media, and that their updates should be posted through official government channels...

...but at the same time, it is convenient to have public 4k evidence of how utterly fucked in the head these people are.
This is not normal, and continued and ever-increasing rhetoric like this should not be treated as normal. #holdfast #steadystate

Not gonna lie, a person who has a checkmark next to the name of their media analysis YouTube channel being capable of leaving a comment like this?

Yeah, that's a bit unsettling.
