What's changed is that the Court has become more transparent in its corruption. There's not even an argument here beyond the implicit one which is: how do you expect us to hold the House without those seats?
#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three democratic appointees, #SCOTUS puts Texas's new House maps back into effect for (and, presumably, through) the 2026 midterms.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

which is funny bc people actually royally hate the economy atm anyways and if you had to choose an ideal economic scenario for rn "ppl are furious at Trump over prices but the economy itself doesnt see the bottom fall out" seems like the ideal scenario both politically and economically.
I feel like the left more broadly wants economists to say that the economy is in shambles right now and the current "eh, I mean it is deteriorating but pretty slowly so far" is not satisfying

Capitalism is incredible. Sorry, former teacher, your retirement fund is gone because 5 guys who've collectively never worked a full hour told the banks to put all the money in the country into virtual girlfriend futures
WSJ: “.. If the AI market blows up, the blast radius would be wide, hitting not only Wall Street firms, but also pensions, mutual and exchange-traded funds and individual investors, because of how debt is often sliced and resold across the financial landscape.”

what we've learned today:

if you're writing documents that might be discoverable, part of a historical record, etc? say at least one thing that is extremely inflammatory, very funny, and difficult to disprove.

ideally deliver it flat so it's really unclear if it's a joke

Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed

There is something deeply broken about an economy that creates trillionaires while people get buried under the cost of living and 42 million go hungry. The ultra-rich should realize that my Billionaires Income Tax, aimed at ensuring they pay their fair share, represents the moderate path forward.

Thinking back to the NYT profile as a small, down-on-its-luck Pennsylvania town where people said they had no choice but to vote for Trump because Kamala Harris would send their kids to "the war."

Which war? They were never specific about that for some reason.

I think fundamentally the problem with post liberal thinkers is that they seem to assume that vanquishing liberalism results in their enemies being converted or defeated and not becoming radicalized into enemies who no longer extend the mercies they once did.

Very convincing thread arguing the President had a stroke that is being covered up.
I am not saying that a stroke like this is disqualifying for the office of the presidency, not at all. Neuro recovery is a remarkable and individual thing.

But like, it is very clearly what's going on here.

a tweet i saw that really opened my third eye said basically that there's no such thing as red states and blue states, there's just states where the big city/ies that everyone else hates are a big enough portion of the population to dominate politics and states where they aren't
I mean, this is the whole problem, isn't it? A party rooted in the liberal, cosmopolitan parts of the country can't win outside of them, but you also can't not have a party rooted in those regions because that's a huge and influential part of the country.

It's amazing that the White House and Capitol Building, the two principal structures which functionally and symbolically represent civilian government in the United States, stood against even the prospect of harm for two centuries until Donald Trump intentionally desecrated both of them.
