For as much as Jeff Bezos always found ways to successfully reinvest in his business at gargantuan scale, it’s strange to me that post-retirement it’s clear he doesn’t know what to do with his money other than yachts and such.

Any discussion of how a few actors are protesting Trump's takeover of the Kennedy Center has to consider how Republicans have tried to slash social spending for the arts — and denigrate the arts and humanities as legitimate fields — since at least Reagan, if not longer.

An essential development over the past decade-plus is that the ignorant went from feeling chastened when their ignorance was revealed to banding together and deciding that, actually, they were right. They might disagree at times, but they agreed that ignorance itself was an indicator of trust.

AI boosters want AI to be magic because at heart they are stupid, lazy children who want their Fairy Godmother to make Mommy and Daddy love them.

Yeah and a magic pony could shit bricks of 24k gold and piss a highly concentrated solution of pure heroin.

Roz is absolutely correct.

Deprivation of citizenship should not be a matter for mere ministerial discretion (with light touch judicial review).

In the extreme circumstances when it can happen, the determination should be made by a tribunal, where government and citizen can make their cases.
It should never be possible for any minister to revoke citizenship with a stroke of the pen. #checks #balances

Most underrated Biden admin mistake was bailing out Silicon Valley Bank.

SVB bet big on low interest rates and lost. Rich tech VCs who put too many eggs in that basket generated a bank run, then called for govt money.

Got their bailout, helped elect Trump, and now reaping rewards from corruption.
David Sacks, presumably, on the push by some in the tech and VC world to fund a primary challenge to Congressman Khanna.

These guys truly think they’re Aragorn or Gandalf or Legolas, when they’re really, at best, Saruman or Shelob or Grima Wormtongue. Mostly they’re replacement-level orcs who can’t read a book.
It’s not just “we decided to name our company after the personification of evil.” It’s also “we decided to name our home security company after the personification of evil who was so vainly proud of his vigilance that he let his home get invaded in the most catastrophic way possible.”

When his aircraft landed at Halifax, Nova Scotia, President Zelenskyy was met by Prime Minister Mark Carney – the head of government of Canada.

When he landed at Miami, Florida, not a single U.S. official met Zelenskyy.

Canada is Ukraine's ally. The U.S. is Russia's proxy.

How many licensing agreements also pay off shareholders? Because that's what's happening here.

Also, Huang effectively lives in the Oval Office these days so he could probably buy Groq the old-fashioned way without much scrutiny.
Every major user of AI inference services should be SCREAMING at the FTC/DOJ to take a hard look at the Nvidia/Groq deal. There's a reason why they dropped this quietly, late on Christmas Eve.

IMO, they're dressing this up as a non-exclusive licensing arrangement, but it's really an acquisition.
