And that's it. My access to all my work stuff on the work laptop has been revoked. All that needs to be done now is for it to be wiped and returned.

The end of an era indeed.

Amused that Trump's lawyers really sent the legal letter to:
BBC Television Centre,
London W12 8QT.

I wonder if they included a self addressed envelope for a reply and called 018118055 to confirm receipt.

Really quite touched that a couple of my colleagues contacted me outside of work channels today to send their best and to say that they're genuinely sorry to see me go as well as praising my work while I was there, and offering to keep in touch.

Restores a bit of faith in myself if nothing else
My last day as an employed person today.

Leaving after 7 years there (though I'm surprised I lasted for 2 years post-takeover in '23) and also not *completely* of my own choice to leave.

Maybe this is the point where I get out of IT completely as I've become somewhat disillusioned with it now.

Not for nothing, this is one reason why we say "pregnant patient" instead of "woman." It's not just for non-binary inclusion.
In addition to the fact that it's very much the power imbalance and legal responsibility to protect them that makes them children, it's also disturbing that so many people are willingly like "listen, 15 year olds are hot, and that's a fact." They are children. They look like children.

A quiet time on Dirty Feed, and will be for the rest of the year. Busy with a new job and learning how to drive, I won't have time for much else.

I did write these two short pieces about The Golden Shot which you may enjoy:

I try not to get angry or annoyed when tech issues means stuff gets delayed or there's some other kind of problem.

But when it's directly impacting the emotional health and wellbeing of people I love then all sympathy and respect goes out the window.

If you could isolate one person in journalism (apart from Murdoch) as the one who encouraged and egged on lying on a daily basis in their profession, Kelvin Mackenzie would be the one. I do hope he gets stuck in a pothole being eaten by tigers one of these fine days.

There's a couple of things that stick in my mind from watching Sesame Street when I was younger and one of them is this, which, while genuinely fascinating and captivating, I always found ever so slightly sinister and creepy and even unsettling.
When I was on @looksunfamiliar.bsky.social I chose this sequence from a 1979 Sesame Street episode - probably the first time I ever heard Philip Glass was this exclusive piece he wrote for this animated sequence, Geometry of Circles. It's never appeared anywhere else.

Will be back in the fold next week so until then, love and big hugs to you all!

Paul's memoir is, as you would probably expect, a genuinely entertaining and fascinating read. Highly recommended by both me and Kit.

(And I'm still smiling at the reference to a certain song by the Blow Monkeys...)

1. Dont assume sales based on twitter followers if youre then going to leave the racist cesspit.

2. You're on your own.

3. Whatever you think the headline stories are, the tabloids will disagree.

Likewise, we will also be unable to make it as it's been something of a week here and we're very much out of spoons, but if you are in Liverpool tonight then please do go and see the rather magnificent @spraypopmusic.com at The Outpost. Guaranteed top level entertainment for all and sundry!
If you are in Liverpool tonight then you should be going to see @spraypopmusic.com at The Outpost tonight, plus some of their chums. There is nothing better.

We will not be, sadly, but you are guaranteed as good a time as is possible without us.

"May you be badly positioned on a windy day" has now just become my new favourite insult and I will endeavour to use this at least once a day in the future.
I reckon you should lean into creative insults like you get in Irish - ‘May you be badly positioned on a windy day’, ‘My cat’s curse upon you’ etc.

A magnificent win for the team in tonight's penultimate OQL match of the season sees us going into the final week fourth in the table, and with a small but viable chance that, if things go in our favour next week, we finish second and secure promotion back to division 3!!!!
