This is an insightful but deeply upsetting article about why everyone in the US feels poor, and why the current political situation emerges as a direct result.

We lived in a pub when I was growing up and when I was 3 (50 years ago!) we had someone in to draw the pub for a business card. I sat next to him and watched him draw every line. I was transfixed and it was a huge inspiration for me. I’ve dreamt about owning that drawing for years…

Today I struck up a chat with the other guy in the waiting room at the vets, first about oud pets and then we ended up talking about Pokémon and it was nice!
small talk makes the world go round and it is in fact incumbent upon you to at least make an *effort* to be pleasant to other people in your community
there’s a thing here about for the last decade or so, online people have been very negative about small talk - the weather, or local news, or whatever - and small talk is the grease that keeps physical interactions going, and i am tired of ceding that to shut-ins

Fantasy/sci-fi covers in general are less interesting these days unfortunately, I blame the "adult covers of children's books" phase of publishing for this, the black Pratchett covers with one grey object in particular make me sad.
i was excited to see that my local
bookstore has a bunch more gene wolfe on the shelves, BUT the current cover for fifth head of cerberus is
so boring i couldn’t bring myself to buy it. what are we doing here, where’s the drama. where’s the vision. where’s the three headed dog

Watching the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episodes sequentially, I think some of the more memorable moments in the entire series come from these episodes #simpsons

Prediction for tonight's Halloween visitors...4 groups total, maybe 12 kids altogether. That would be an increase on last year, our road is too busy with cars I think, parents prefer the nearby estates.

Me and the family rewatched Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves the other night. It is delightful, this generation's Princess Bride. Very funny, charming, and inventive, it deserved to make a billion dollars. Cold comfort for the filmmakers, but I'd say it'll be rediscovered eventually.

Our new game, The Corner Café, is a cozy café simulator set in Galway city and county in the year 2160.

Our goal is to create a game that celebrates Irish folklore in a totally different setting. Think Irish folklore meets 80s Sci-Fi.

It also has chicken fillet rolls.
